It was your claim, how much did you see him play?
I saw every game he played.
His arm looked noticeably stronger than JT's, and his time to throw a good bit quicker.
I can't speak to how good he frames pitches or calls games. But even if he's behind on JT on those fronts, that's something that he'll get better at over time.
As far the bat, I saw a guy that didn't look one bit confused by what he was being thrown at him. Which was eye opening given how young and inexperienced he was.
His big weakness as a hitter in the minors had been his lack of power, which makes all the sense in the world given that he just turned 21 this year.
Given what he brings on defense, and his apparent IQ as a hitter, I wouldn't panic at the thought of him playing next season. Obviously it's less than ideal, but paying JT 20+ million a year when history suggests that his best years are behind him seems foolish. We made our bet that we'd make the playoffs with JT in 2019 and 2020 and the bet didn't pan out.
We need to cut our losses and just take the comp pick.
