I was ok with offering 4/80, just to keep Bryce happy.

What's the word on making the DH permanent in the NL?

As of now, no DH next year. The cba expires after next this season and it's expected to be in after that, but it was also expected to be in this year. It's not final that it won't be.

I hope JT says no.  I hope someone steps in and "steals him" from us.

If the Phillies are cutting payroll I don't see how they will be better next year by signing realmuto. As far as signing him, not many teams are in the market for a catcher and are willing to spend money. The blue jays may he interested and have missed out on some free agents so I could see them paying more. The nationals are the other team, but they've been into deferring contracts lately.

JT has been interested in resetting the market for catchers all along.  I hope that doesn’t dissuade him from signing a really good offer from the Phils.

Yeah, who would want a catcher who miraculously won a gold glove while only throwing out 1 guy stealing...

He was a mediocre at best catcher last year.

If your eyes told you different, it means your eyes or the brain behind them needs replacing.

God knows we don't want the best catcher in baseball!

he played 35 games as a catcher last year. certainly not much of a sample size. offensively he hit on a pace for 35 hr and 105 rbis.but yeah, your guy with 1 career hr is an adequate replacement

Some of us Phillies fans learned our lesson with Dutch.

He was a physical freak who was probably roiding to the gills, but once he turned 30 the physical torture that is catching came to collect it's rent.

You may want to look at his numbers when he was 30 (hint they were his best years). Yes he was probably on steroids, but he lead the league in rbi while hitting 27 home runs his ago 30 season.

(And how old were you in 1992 when you learned this lesson)

Euphemism for grabbing every dollar he can get. I’m doing it for all of the other gize, gize!
