NBCSN shutting down
« on: January 24, 2021, 08:29:13 am »
By the end of 2021, NBCSN will be no more.  They are moving all their operations to USA Network.

I wonder what this means for our local teams.  Are we going to see them less if we don’t subscribe to another service?  The MLB and NHL streaming packages specifically block in market teams.  The Phils will be screwed by the new deal and will be at the mercy of whatever NBC decides, but NHL’s contract with NBC is up after this year.  I hope the NHL breaks away and goes totally streaming.  One packages gets you your team of choice, maybe another to pick 5 teams, and a top plan to get all the teams.

I have Hulu primarily to get access to the games at the moment.  I’m certainly dumping them if they don’t regularly have the teams I actually want to watch.

This is gonna be weird for cable and streaming packages that have NBCSN but not USA.

Phillies & Comcast signed a 25yr tv contract agreement back in 2014.  I wonder how that’ll work?  Will it be effected w this new change?  Does it even have anything to do w that?
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Rom 8:31)

So, I guess the games that were scheduled to play on NBC will move to USA, but the vast majority of PHI games will stay on Comcast Sportsnet...I assume

Comcast owns the Flyers so the same prolly holds true for them too.

Not sure if accurate, but I don’t think nbcsn- Philadelphia is shutting down. Don’t know if I saw on Twitter, but definitely read it.

Correct doc, this isn't for the local nbc sports channels, only the national channel. Nbcsn plans the move by the end of 2021.
