Praying this dude kills it in DET.  Fresh start and hopefully a clearer path to opportunity/promotion.

These dweebs we're hiring better be legit smart.

Cause if they prove to be "dumb nerds" like most of these NFL "wonderboys" are proving to be, our locker room is gonna blow up like Hiroshima by week 4.

Not sure if it will blow up...depends on who stays and who goes.  If the team is going the young route and shipping out the OGs, then these young guys will see opportunity.  But if they keep the Alshons of the world around then yeah, I see the bomb dropping.

If he's really a great football mind he will show it by taking a job other than RB coach.  If he really thought he was HC material he would probably have held out for something different.

I see they gave him AHC too, looks like NFL teams give those away like candy!

Well just by nature of the moves we have to make to get under the cap, we’re going to have to get rid of a lot of veteran players.

This was a lateral move.  He was AHC here last season.  He can only take a job that offered to him...

I do too. Duce deserved better than the Eagles offered.

Lurie chose his money over his players.

Forgetting that it's his players that make him his money.

Given the fact that he took the same exact job with the Detroit Lions within five minutes I'm not sure even he agrees with you

If you are an accountant with a company and scream that you deserve to be CEO it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to quit your job because they didn't make you CEO and then join a chittier company as an accountant

We don't know what was offered along w the lateral promotion.  Why should he stay here if he's reached a ceiling?  He may have opportunities in DET that he clearly wasn't gonna get here.  It makes alot of sense to quit your job for the same title if it comes w a better package & opportunity.

But if really in his heart of hearts he thinks he got unfairly passed over he wouldn’t accept the Lions lateral move in first five minutes.

Yeah maybe he’s getting more money, we don’t know but it’s still bizarre if he believes he’s a great football mind. And he better believe he’s a great football mind as rah rah rah emotion guys can only get you so far.

Anyways, great opportunities and the Detroit Lions rarely go hand in hand. What is most likely to happen here is that he gets fired in two to three years along with new head coach and rest of staff.

Coaches get hired to be fired is my motto.  They usually find themselves w new jobs anyway.  But in Duce's situation, he can only take what is offered, even if he feels he has a great football mind.  He doesn't hold the cards, he's not the one doing the hiring or owning the team.

He took a new job in one day. He survived many firings with the Eagles, I doubt he will be lucky enough to do so with the Lions. Then that may be where the story ends.

Owners and GMs want "team players".

Doug and Duce now have reputations for not playing ball with the front office and ownership.

Would be different if he was joining a team like the Chiefs. There he could expect some assistant coaches to get plucked and he can move up. In Detroit no one gets plucked, they get canned.
