He did some impressive stuff with Matt Cassell.  As well as Garrapollo and Brissett when those two were NFL puppies.

My first choice would have been to keep Doug and make Wentz EARN his spot back.  My second choice is honestly.  Duce has the lockerroom's respect.  As well as advanced knowledge of what we already have (and what we really need).

And I'd be shocked if Duce of all people didn't have us running the ball all game long.  Which is really how we won our title in 2017.

But as far as hail mary plays to salvage Wentz, McDaniels makes sense.

how do brissett and jimmy g look? neither is very good. so what did he do for them except fit them into new england's offense for short stays

You're right, neither of them are good even as seasoned vets.  And Cassell has had mostly bad seasons since leaving the Pats.

This is why the 2.35 points per drive the Pats got with these QBs was impressive.  That number would have been closer to 2.5 if McDaniels wasn't forced to play Brissett when Brissett had a broken throwing hand.

Josh will get the most out of whatever talent you give him.  Question is is Wentz actually talented?

Duce was my #1 choice, but McDaniel is definitely an intriguing option.

After firing Chip we went with his antithesis, now we're sort of doing the same thing in the opposite direction.

This could result in some really good short term results, and if McDaniels's emotional intelligence has improved even slightly since his failed Denver gig, this might work out long term as well.

One thing we know about Josh is that he schemes to his talent.  So we're not dealing with another Chip Kelly here as far as offensive philosophy.

His people skills were non-existent in Denver, but failure and time tends to mellow people out.

Thing to keep in mind here is that we're also getting a new defensive coordinator.  Schwartz simply put was already "figured out" when we hired him.  At no point in time did our defense under Schwartz confuse opposing offenses, which is kind of the point when it comes to play calling.  It's hard to believe we can do worse than Gym Shorts.

And of course we got our new draft guru, who like McDaniel comes to Philly with a reputation for being a pain in the @ss to deal with.

One thing is for sure, the post-Chip kumbaya era is over.  Lurie 2.0 isn't content just sitting back and smiling.  Dorsey is gonna change the culture of our front office.  McDaniels is gonna change the culture of our lockerroom.

Buckle up, this has boom or bust written all over it.
Lurie still trying to sell Wentz in these interviews and ppl are not buying Wentz anymore.

Wentz is a tough sell.

Doug has patience for days and even he had enough of Wentz, both as a player and person.

People are still hung up on the "mirage" we saw in 2017.  Wentz was riding our dynamo rushing attack during that win streak.  And having picnics in the pocket when he did drop back to pass.

But South Philly still wants it's savior and Lurie still wants his return on investment.  Sad to say it, but Wentz looks like our opening day starter in 2021.

His claim to fame was the ability to win with the GOAT @ QB.   Reminds me of Gase.  Was great when he 'coached' Peyton Manning.    We'll see but he wouldn't be my choice.
Agreed.  Not mine either he's done nothing outside of Brady. GOAT? I doubt it. Montana is my GOAT. You can't cheat the game and be the GOAT. Smh!! Ppl just ignore his cheating. And he didn't  even need to cheat...they were that good.

Football is too much of a team sports to really throw the "GOAT" label on anyone.

If Phillip Rivers gets drafted by New England and Brady gets drafted by the Chargers, we'd probably be talking about Rivers collection of rings and Brady's lack of them right now.

Tom is a clutch.  Can't deny that.  With 2 minutes left in a one score game, I can't think of anyone better to close it out.  If there's a good comparable for Brady, it's Mariano Rivera.

Montana lead TD drives to win the game. Brady has gotten alot of field goal help. Brady is great no doubt. But you cant have loses in the big game and be considered the GOAT. Jordan and Montana are my Goats. Barry is my baseball GOAT. This dude has losses to Eli and Nicky lol!!!!!

Let's be real, cheating got him those first 3 rings, the refusal of the Seahawks and Falcons to run it home for the guaranteed win got him rings 5 and 6, and his defense handed him ring #6.

Not saying didn't do great things, but he had A LOT of help beyond just the awesome teams he was playing for.

Lol didn’t you just say that you can’t cheat the game and be considered the GOAT?

PEDs were too commonplace in Barry's era to dock him THAT many points for using it himself.

I agree that it sucks for the 10% of players back then that did it clean.  Pedro claims to be one of them.  If he's telling the truth there should be a GD statue of him in front of every Ballpark in America today.  Cause the dude was only 5'9 on bare feet and 150 soaking wet and striking out juiceheads with power pitches.

the game brissett had a broken hand was the better of the 2 games. he scored with his legs in the other game. they were awful. the first game he didn't have a broken hand, threw for 103 yards and was not good at all. but houston scored zero so that was easy- the 2nd game with the broken hand he threw for over 200 yards and scored zero points. mcdaniels did nothing for him.

The game Brissett broke his hand in, the Pats won something like 27-0.  The opponent was probably unaware the hand got broken until after the game had already ended.

The game Brissett came into with a broken hand, the Pats scored 0.  I remember it well cause there was talk of Edelman actually starting at QB.

McDaniels is an elite offensive mind.  Maybe even better than Doug.

I did. Allegedly taking rods is different from Spygate or deflate gate.

Allegedly used Roids. Barry was a pure hitter regardless. No one talks about Sammy or McGwire being the GOAT. Because it was a homer or a strikeout with them.
