Ah yes I can see how that would definitely be a factor when doing that.
I used to do this crazy a s s hill interval workout on the treadmill, and if I forgot to bring my iPod with me, I couldn’t do it. Tried it once without music, and forget it, couldn’t get through it. Needed the music plus a towel to cover up the time on the treadmill so that I wouldn’t be constantly looking at it, otherwise mentally it was just too hard to get through the interval.
YASSSSSSSSS...when I have to do the elliptical or treadmill.....
hiding the display & music is definitely a must. When I'm outside I don't think about time, miles, or HR, but on that dumb treadmill I'm always looking at the display....
. The machine plays Jedi mind tricks on me. When I was a Soldier, we would run every morning for as long as the Commander wanted....2, 3, 4, 5 miles, whatever. We would all be in formation and somebody would sing cadence and mannnn it was so easy to run...all you'd see is a-holes and elbows in unison. Winter, spring, summer, fall, rain or snow...we'd run. But as soon as I tried to run on my own w/o my fellow comrades...I was dead in the water...sucking wind & looking for O2...
I don't know, its just weird that I could run for days w others, but couldn't run a mile by myself. Its a mental thing...like my time around a track for 2 miles is slower than when I run straight line 2 miles. Mental...🤯
