Phillies Board / Re: Seranthony might have made the difference...
« on: October 10, 2024, 07:34:41 pm »
Our bullpen was an absolute disaster.

Something like 11 runs given up in 16 inning.

For all his faults, Seranthony has been a postseason stud.  1.69 ERA in 2022 in 10 and 2/3rd innings pitched.  0 ERA in 2023 in 5 and 1/3rd innings pitched.

This postseason he gave up no runs in 1 and 2/3rd innings pitched.

At least one of those disaster innings by our pen could have been avoided had we had his proven arm coming in in relief.

Moral of the story, NEVER give up on a postseason proven player, no matter how bad they look in the regular season.

This goes of Castellanos, who's OPS the last 2 postseasons has been .844 and 1.059.  And you can tell from his body language that the moment doesn't get too big for him.

1. NC has been atrocious in the playoffs for the most part.. Nick Castellanos has a .197 batting average with 26 hits, 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and 16 runs scored in 35 games in the postseason in his career.

He was NOT this season, but to say it is not too big a spot for him is not always the case. I wouldn't just get rid of NC just to get rid of him either though unless it makes sense. What I have heard though is that DD has been almost trying to give NC away for nothing. Now that he had a very good year... this may be the time DD actually gets his wish.

2. The BP did stink and perhaps SD could have made all the difference in the world in game 1, but honestly the offense still basically did NOTHING outside of 1 game. I don't know if a BP pitcher was the major issue with this team, despite them all coming up small. The offense didn't give the team any runs to really work with and that was the biggest issue.

Political Forum / The WEATHER is a HOAX!!!!! Part 2!!!
« on: October 10, 2024, 07:23:58 pm »
Still think JoeDirt is "CRAZY" for saying the weather is a HOAX?

The MSM is already telling the sheeple (brainwashing) that this MAY have an impact on the upcoming election. How to use the weather to cheat again is what they should be saying.

https://www.npr.org/2024/10/09/nx-s1-5145781/milton-helene-hurricanes-politics-election

Again, the elites can control the weather and DO control the weather in many ways. Here is the old thread about it in case you are clueless to how this could possibly be done. I don't feel like posting it all, so read through it to know how/why....

http://extremesixersforum.createaforum.com/political-forum/the-current-weather-is-a-hoax!!!!!!!/msg333570/#msg333570

This was a thing the elites knew (even a former POTUS told the sheeple before us all about). Did any of you "boomers" ever pay attention to anything or learn anything?

Now, just sit back and watch, how the elites (let's call them the demonrats for now) will use the weather to somehow cheat their supposed "win" AGAIN. At least this is the show they are putting on. It is even possible that they will use the weather idea, to distract the sheeple from some other cheating method. Facts are, yes, the elites can control the weather to a certain extent, and they will use it whether to gain more money for their nonsense, kill off a certain portion of people, for war tactics, and now perhaps cheating another election.

To play ignorant to this FACT, is foolish by you peeps, not JoeDirt!!! Even a former POTUS literally TOLD YOU sheeple what they were going to do...

https://archive.org/details/he-who-controls-the-weather-will-control-the-world-lyndon-b-johnson

What's even MORE AMAZING... Is now a MORON in the supposed "KNOW" should know that this is a thing dating back to Johnson and Kennedy, but biden is playing STUPID and hoping that the sheeple won't catch on. Joe biden says it is "so stupid to think anyone could control the weather.". Now, are you sheeple going to play along and believe a word that MORON biden tells you? It's in the other thread how much they CAN and DO control the weather!!!!!!

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/government-not-controlling-the-weather/  LOL please don't let the elites and MSM continue to lie to you sheeple. Please stop eating it up with no idea you are being completely manipulated and lied to. Just do simple research... oh and please research it before the biden campaign along with Kamala erase the evidence THEY created!!!

Political Forum / Re: **POLL** TRUMP or KAMALA?
« on: October 10, 2024, 06:38:27 pm »
Too many Nancies on here afraid to vote.

This poll shows me that the MSM is a bunch of liars...which I already knew, but this sort of confirms it a bit more.

Secondly, the people who want to actually vote for the MORON Kamala, are actually quietly ashamed of themselves. They SHOULD be.

If the last 4 years aren't all the proof you need that Kamala is 1 HUGE JOKE on America, and a VERY BAD joke at that, then you are a bigger moron than Kamala. It's either vote for Trump or show the elites you are fine not using your brain, or you don't have a working brain at least and you NEED to be told what to do and are OK with destroying America. Sorry if you don't like Trump because he lies (what politician doesn't lie?) or says mean words. He's the better choice at the end of the day, period.

DEB OR LIGHTHOUSE...(totally not RBI) You still out there? Still think the things you think you THINK, or has either of your opinions changed...

"No, you actually suck with this stupid post Joe. Go play with the jerk who is definitely a son of Satan and get pulled down to hell with him. You claim to be a Christian but your own words and actions betray you. And stop lying on God and accusing others of doing it. You nor the jerk know what God is thinking at any point in time. You hypocrites call a person a liar for saying that they heard from God on something. But you two jerks claim that you know what God thinks about Trump or other things. You said with 100% certainty that God does not care about Trump or his presidency. Did God care about King David? Did God allow King Saul to still rule for awhile? Does God care about his creations? Did God allow Jesus to die for ALL? Stop lying on God and playing the fool. God cares about everyone. RBIguy has no regrets for what he claimed according to his wife. He still believes in what he said and he is no coward or a back stabber, like you are. RBIguy still as far as I know likes you and considers you his friend. If he read the garbage that you posted about him, I'm sure that he would change his mind about you now. Jesus had his Judas and RBIguy has you. What did the little Satan jerk, give you to betray RBIguy so badly?

I am not RBIguy stupid and I only come here once in awhile to catch up on the Phillies news. Unlike you trolls, I do have a life. Now, go play your silly games with the jerk and keep me out of your future conversations. Go and find out what a real Christian is supposed to act and behave like."

There was a large enough minority of us who saw the fatal flaws, even when they had the best record in MLB.  All of those flaws came to fruition against the Mutts.

1. KS should NOT be the leadoff hitter for this particular team, but he is NOT a bad leadoff hitter. This IS a flaw though, because I would prefer his homeruns come with more men on base. He probably hit more first inning homeruns than any other inning, so if he batted 4th or 5th in the lineup, we may have left the first inning more times than not up by a couple or few runs instead of 1. That is a problem for DD to find a better solution to. SOME people would have thought Rojas should have been the leadoff guy, but the dude is so far a minor league allstar at best in my opinion and a gg outfielder at the ML level or platoon guy at best as we speak. No point in having a DH if your 9 hitter is hardy better than batting a pitcher for the most part. Rojas def showed some improvement, but not nearly enough. Too bad Crawford probably isn't ready yet. So, one of this team's major flaws is the lineup construction. It's really all over the place. It needs to be better balanced.

2. All that money spent on Turner wasn't worth it. His biggest issue was we took a decent SS and put him on 2B to now have atrocious fielding at SS. That is a major flaw. The Phillies can't move Turner to the OF soon enough since we are apparently stuck with him with that contract.

3. Losing Hoskins was a bigger issue than most people realize. Not because of what he did or didn't do, but he was a HUGE part of the heart and soul of this team. The biggest problem losing Hoskins? NEVER actually replacing him with anyone that made a difference, or really anybody at all.

4. I think the amount of money spent (Turner, NC, etc.) sort of limited things they wanted to do at the DL. There were players they could have traded foe that would have probably helped the team more, but they didn't pull the trigger because they didn't want certain players with "years" still remaining on their contracts. Not sure how to look at this as a flaw, but it kind of is. It means our GM or president didn't do a good enough evaluation job. Speaking of which... I loved trading for Brandon Marsh. At the end of the day though, The Angels made out better. Although, the Phillies probably should have won at least 1 ring now without Hoppe and with Marsh, but our manager blew it.

5. The biggest flaw on this team is ROB. His feel for the bullpen and how long to leave pitchers in or take out is HORRIBLE. The one thing I don't like to see, is a manager LOSING GAMES FOR HIS TEAM. That just can't happen.  A really good manager doesn't LOSE games for his team on a consistent basis, especially when they are in the playoffs. Again, ROB is a great dude that the players play hard for, but when they need some strategy and they are depending on the manager to get that done, ROB fails more times that not. I am not sure this team can win a WS with ROB as their manager and that is the biggest flaw they have going forward. Perhaps if DD gets ROB some better pieces, he may be able to do more, but the better question is... will he actually do more with better pieces, or will he still choke when the pressure is on and still find a way to mess it up?

Nick is who he is.

I don't see that changing tbh.

Not until he gets fired at least.

I would love for this dope to become the coach Lurie "THINKS" he can become or grow into, but I am not sure it's going to happen either.

Nick talks a lot about becoming 1 percent better every day, but it seems like he is getting 1 percent worse every day. He better turn that around fast.

Started off with a great record playing Nats, Marlins, White Sox, Rockies etc. And even then ran above expectation and rode positive variance

Then once tougher schedule kicked in it was said they “got cold”. Had a losing record after all star break. Don’t really think they lost to a lesser team in Mets that got hot, but that’s what is being said.

They might both be like 88 win teams, but Phillies just flat out got luckier, particularly in first half

Discuss

Mayock, I kind of disagree. The Eagles were 10-1 at one point last year, and they even got through that supposed "gauntlet" of very good teams. Then they suddenly couldn't even beat bad teams the rest of the season. Something went entirely wrong. So, basically what I am saying is... I don't think the Phillies got "lucky" because of their supposedly easy schedule.

Look at how many teams finished far worse in standings than the Phillies? I honestly think the teams they played in the first half had something to do with it, but after the AS break, this team started having players getting injured. These same players honestly came back probably too soon as well and then they were playing tougher teams at now less than 100 percent compared to the first half of the season.

Teams usually are what their record shows they are. I think some teams are just not suited for getting time off and the Phillies are one of those teams. Ask the Braves and their manager about the byes. The Phillies after the all star break were a totally different team.

Manfred is a MORON for destroying the idea of the importance of winning the division and he seriously needs to look into it. It is not a good thing. A team like the Phillies failed to turn the switch back on, but it is seriously hard for some teams to do. I don't know what the reward for getting 1 of the best 2 records in each league should be, but it can't keep being 5 or more days off while some hot team with tons of momentum is firing on all cylinders. The teams that get past the bye seem to get by based on luck if you look into the games that have been played. I guess it would or could have been looked at as "luck" if the Wheeler could have pitched more than 7 in game 1, but apparently that is no longer realistic, so the Phillies had "bad luck".

This all being said, the season was absolutely a major disappointment. I still think ROB will be lucky to be the manager going forward, and if he does get another season... that will HAVE to be WS championship or bust. I think the Phillies no doubt about it had the team to win a WS, but they ran into the hottest team in baseball at the wrong time. Also, I kind of hated them celebrating the division title. Should have honestly been no celebrating until we at least win a playoff round, especially after last year's epic fail.

Bottom line.. I feel like ROB is a great dude, the players like him a lot, but he fails at the strategic level, and I truly feel like it is time for him to be replaced. The fact that he wasn't fired a minute after last night makes me think he isn't going to be fired anytime soon.

Eagles Forum / Re: Hurts finally praises Sirianni!!
« on: October 10, 2024, 04:07:42 pm »
This is all lip service.

Fact is, Sirianni can't get anything right as far as play calling goes.

But he's too much of a proud stunod to simply stand aside and let Moore call the plays.

I agree that it's mainly just your typical lip service, but it DOES sound at least a BIT different than the usual lip service we've heard.

The difference being he actually mentioned them getting together and if you read between the lines, Hurts does sort of mention that they have been having some issues in the past and something finally may have changed for the better.

We probably can all believe it is lip service, and again it probably is, but none of us will really know how it truly is until we see the play on the field and the actual play calling.

I do know that Lurie is NOT happy right now from what he is seeing, so Nick probably had to bs his way onto Hurts' good side and make sure things work for the better. The thing I know Lurie isn't liking, is that Nick sort of caved when Lurie wanted him to bring in someone like Moore, unlike Pederson refused to cave to Lurie's wants...

Now, Lurie isn't liking that Nick has decided to call too many plays and override Moore when it wasn't supposed to be like this. Nick sort of punked Lurie in my opinion. Nick is now trying to save his own arse, by finally trying to make right with Hurts. So, it is lip service, but a bit different this time.

Eagles Forum / Hurts finally praises Sirianni!!
« on: October 10, 2024, 02:28:06 pm »
Everyone has been waiting for Hurts to sort of endorse Sirianni, but it seemed Hurts wanted nothing more to do with his HC.

Perhaps with NS feeling the heat, he approached Hurts and the 2 got together to discuss issues they have been having since last year's collapse and Hurts turnover issues....

Seems like things are heading in the right direction. This may not seem like a big deal, but it is kind of HUGE.

Let's see if it makes any difference going forward though...

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/eagles-qb-jalen-hurts-gushes-over-nick-sirianni-relationship-amid-2-2-start/ar-AA1s2yJw?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=8ccbfca8168b46278ce7e7b058e332a4&ei=10

"Like any other bye week, I obviously spent some time away from the building a little bit, but also (spent time) really diving into some things and talking to my coaches and really having some great moments with Nick," Hurts explained, per Bob Brookover of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com. "This is probably one of the most efficient bye weeks I’ve been a part of in my career. I’ve been able to share some moments and talk through some things and build."

"I’m happy and fortunate that we were able to come together in harmony and have the same goal in mind in trying to get this thing right," Hurts added about the time he spent with Sirianni during the bye. "I have a ton of confidence in him, a ton of confidence in what he brings and everything he has been able to accomplish. Everybody goes through different moments and everybody experiences adversity, but we’ve experienced different levels of adversity together and I’m excited about what’s to come."

that may be the wish list, but i dont think its reality.

estevez, hoffman and turnbull the only free agents.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OhaLeCpeOyJOkBZqOFCC__afbPLtIJL85BuIwVfOZ-s/edit?gid=1520401900#gid=1520401900

Phillies "ran it back" already and it was pretty much an epic failure. They have to make changes. I don't know if they will be as drastic as many people are hoping, but they can't seriously consider running it back again, unless they fire ROB and sell the fans on the new manager making a difference, along with a few tinkering moves here and there.

Do you like having less money in your pocket?

Actually I have more, thank you.  I'm good with things but lets not make this a political forum.   Vote your choice and leave it alone here.

Yeah, they probably upped those welfare checks. LOL

In reality, is it REALLY more money when you are paying MORE for literally EVERYTHING?

I just love the peeps who think "wow I am getting more money per hour with my raise", or the government upped welfare checks, ss, or minimum wage went up, but are literally blind to the fact that as soon as that happens, everything around you goes up in price where it always equals out to the same.

Also, your response is exactly what the brainwashing machine has done and YOU sir, fall for it EVERY SINGLE TIME. Where a bunch of MEN have become sissy boys. Can't handle anything. JoeDirt didn't' bring up politics in this thread. Someone else did...just like your TELL A VISION brings it up every chance they can in sports I am watching. Make sure you do get in line and vote for that beast, just like you were tricked into getting in line for that jab. Be a good little Sheeple.

how the f do u figure that?

to me its just about the worst insult?

u refuse to admit u are wrong about anything and berate anyone who disagrees with u

doesnt that sound like the former president?

Look at the facts....Trump says mean things. He lies, What politcian doesn't lie?

Look at 4 years under Trump compared to the last 4 years?

Do you like having less money in your pocket?

If you want Kamala, you want to continue destroying America...just because you don't want to be called mean names.

If you look at the last 4 years, the proof is in the pudding.

What more proof do you need that Kamala is HORRIBLE compared to the orange man. Just look at the numbers.

Food, gas, inflation, etc. I don't even like Trump. Facts are facts though. Don't be a brainwashed sheeple because of your TELL A VISION.

By the way, Kamala has lied the same if not more than Trump. You just never noticed because she has hidden behind biden and 0bama.

If you actually are going to want and vote for Kamala, you ought to just start wearing shirts that says, "I am retarded by choice, and I voted for Kamala". This way, people would know to avoid you weirdos who want less money in your bank accounts and less food on your table and less gas in your cars, because if Kamala gets elected, it would be those with far less braincells voting for her. LOL

FedoraJack ended up being wrong about everything

He pumped up the bullpen, he pumped up the manager, he always said “no we don’t need this, no we don’t need that” but we actually did need this, that, and the other

I am not one to defend SimpleJack, but I do think he was right in saying we didn't NEED another SP. Although Skubal would have been nice. I mean didn't really matter who the SP was, when the bats could barely provide the pitchers any run support.

I do think DD made a big mistake trading for Hays though. They seemed a bit overjoyed by getting Hays as if he was like some grand prize they always coveted. That was a joke that did nothing to help them whatsoever.

thanks for the well thought out post.

i get what youre saying about turner, but dont think its totally true. he's had playoff success before for one.

as far as miller, i dont think he ready right now. i dont even know if he'd be ready mid season. with my comment about him playing 3rd, it was about moving bohm more then anything. when he was drafted, many thought he'd move to 3rd. so far, he's staying at short and seems to be ok there. stott i think stays at 2nd. he will earn a gold glove there at some point (and should be in the running this year, though him platooning as much may keep him out).

schwarber has proven he is a very capable leadoff hitter. if you want someone else leading off, you need to find someone. dont tell me schwarber isnt a good leadoff hitter though, its been proven that not only is he a good leadoff hitter, he's one of the better ones in the league. no one on this current team would come close to being as successful as him leading off.

i dont think turner is moveable. you can move him to the outfield and he will be a plus defender and a plus bat. will you be happy with his contract, probably not, but he will be very succesful for years to come.

the rotation, i agree, pitched just fine and i think miller will be part of it next year (though i fully expect an innings limit).

Everyone should know by now that JoeDirt and SimpleJack have their issues on this site with each other and will both rip each other, but this is a good baseball thread, and we should stick to it.  Everyone should offer their opinion for good discussion purposes. If you all still want to rip on SimpleJack, be my guest lol, but still add good baseball discussion. Well, that's all I have to say about that...

Anyway, I do understand what you are saying about Turner and his playoff success. I just haven't really seen enough of it with the Phillies..yet.

I would guess, he probably isn't moveable as you say. I think he would be fine as an OF, but I think he has to be put there asap. I just wonder if the Phillies get Soto, which I doubt will happen... not saying impossible. Just doubt it...Where is Turner playing if they get Soto? I guess we are going to finally move NC at this point. I get that people see that NC came through a bit more this year, but this team needs change... NC would be my guess as first to go. So, is Turner the RF? LF would be Soto and CF is Marsh?

To be fair, as 1 of Marsh's biggest fans on this site.. I wasn't happy with him this season. I also was not the biggest fan of Rojas, and I am disappointed in both. If we somehow keep NC, I guess Turner can be the everyday LF. Just don't know who is playing SS then at that point if Miller isn't ready. If he isn't ready...don't know how quick you are to move Turner to the OF. I wonder if it is just best to pick Marsh or Rojas and move 1 of them.

Man, it seems like 1 of the Phillies biggest issues, is having a lot of parts it seems, that just don't seem to fit. Lot of square pegs in round holes kind of thing. DD needs to address this and make a more rounded team.

Part of why I am saying what I said, is because of someone like KS. Now I do agree with you, he is NOT a bad leadoff hitter. He just isn't who I think should have been the leadoff guy on this particular team. I think he was great for regular season baseball, but when it gets to the playoffs...the team needed some runs at a time. Not just 1 solo shot. Basically, I just think the Phillies would be better if they had a guy at the top of the lineup who was better at getting on base, batting a consistent 300 and having KS hitting 4th or 5th in the lineup where he had more chances to bat with men on base.

The reason this team isn't more rounded, again, is because of someone like KS being your leadoff hitter. How many times do teams with a KS win WS? That's what this team should be doing but they aren't. KS is 1 of the reasons they aren't winning WS. I am not saying it is HIS fault. It's the team itself. It is poorly constructed in my opinion when it comes to playoff baseball. Again, DD needs to do some heavy tinkering and moving parts around.

I think the rotation will be fine with or without Ranger, and Painter will be the boost to the rotation they are hoping for.

I think Hoffman earned a spot and a new contract. Don't know if he gets it here for sure just yet.

I think a lot needs to be done, and I think Middleton will have a big say in it going forward.

If it were possible, I'd find ANY way to get rid of Trea Turner. That dude actually garnered the WEAKEST PHILLY moment in sports JoeDirt has EVER SEEN. It has turned this team into a bunch of wussies, led by their STUPID manager. When in the playoffs, this manager has answered all the questions I had about him....all in the WRONG WAY.

Tobias Turner by the way is the perfect name for him. LOL

Sorry not sorry MikeJack. I assure you I am NOT overreacting at this point. Thomson has shown the reason WHY he has never been a manager after all the years in MLB. Not only that, for whatever reason, the game passed Girardi by. Thomson has been a bad extension of Girardi and it's time for him to go.

He has zero feel for how to use his BP, he almost never employed any winning strategy that I could ever tell, aside from his LRLR insistence, which by the way, hurt the team on more occasions than not.   There were so many times I was just hoping Thomson would TRY to trot an entirely different kind of lineup out there. Even if we both agree that KS was a rare unicorn in the leadoff spot, he should have been given time to be put in the middle of the lineup. Just see if it worked out. Move some other pieces around. It's like he had no other ideas to make this team even better.

I want to say, DD did FAIL the team at this deadline, but I think we need to give him this offseason to find the right pieces.

One of those pieces being the right manager for this team.

MikeJack, I am reposting this because it makes sense here in your thread. With that being said, I will add more.

I think I would like the Phillies to try and get professional hitter Bregman if possible.

Move Bohm possibly for a good BP arm.

If the Phillies aren't even thinking about moving Turner (IMO they should be), he HAS to go to the OF.

Miller has shown enough to be up here now. If it is at 3rd and not short. Who is the everyday 2B or SS. I'm with you in keeping Stott and I think he comes back much better next season. Just is he going to be your everyday SS or 2B? If so, who is the other player? If we keep Miller at SS, then it's because we landed a guy like Bregman for 3B. That would work for me, as long as Miller can be an everyday SS in the ML.

The issue with Turner is... He is very good during the regular season, but in the playoffs, he shows up about as much as Tobias Harris on the Sixers did. Never much of anything when we really need the guy. For what he is getting paid... we should expect and be getting more. Not to mention, his fielding at SS is atrocious.

I get what both you and WCPW are saying. I agree with you both. In my opinion though, I side with WCPW more, because what have the Phillies won other than if you aint first your last prizes with KS as their leadoff guy? KS was hitting homers at a great pace. Imagine if more of those came with men on base?  Imagine if he was the guy behind Harper instead of Bohm or NC?

I think the pitching was good enough to win this entire series for the most part, so I am not sure another pitcher would have mattered. The batters failed this series along with the manager.

Again on RT. what has he shown other than the team likes him that he can manage like a Bruce Bochy when it really counts? His moves most likely cost this team the WS, and his moves in the Arizona series or should I say lack of moves hurt them again. Then this Mets series was the cherry on top. RT took over the dead that Girardi left, and made the clubhouse fun again, but he seems to lack true managerial skills when the team needs it.

It is clearly time for RT to go, but you may be right and Long will be the fall guy.

I do wonder though, what this season would have been like, if they ended up not getting the bye?
