David Jones
« on: November 29, 2024, 05:02:46 pm »
In his first game with the Utah Stars of the G league it was a tough night for him taking too many at 8-19 with 17 points in 26 minutes with only 1-5 from Happyland with 2 steals and 6 rebounds.

However the 2nd game tells a very different story. Jones was +29 with 7 rebounds and 7 assists and 2-3 from Happyland  with 16 points in 20 minutes. He played very well and Utah won both games. Isah Wong keeps scoring big for Utah averaging 26 points per game.

Yesterday in a 7 point loss to Santa Cruz Jones shoots 8-15,2-3 from Happyland with 6 rebounds in 26 minutes. You can't commit 6 turnovers in 26 minutes. That will keep him out of the NBA. If you commit more than 2 turnovers a game that is too much. Now I see why he was not drafted.Turnovers will cost you games.

The basketball world is filled with 3&D wings now.  The super long and super athletic ones are the only ones that stand out.

He is a 6'3.5" small forward. We can't keep getting these 'small players for the position'.

There is a big discrepancy on his size. Some say he is 6ft 6”. Anyway, he can easily play 2 guard. A great open court player.

At the draft combine, Jones was measured at 6'3.5" without shoes. Most reference to size assumes shoes so, in common parlance, 6'6" is about right.

I will just say the kid can blow by defenders and he rebounds the ball. He is an open court player who finishes at the rim. Take the ball out of his hands and his blemish of turning the ball over will go away. If the turnovers continue then he would hurt any time. He is very young. He could helped us instead of Lowery or Gordon. It takes injuries for Nurse to realize  that Young players deserve a chance. Nurse gets no credit for using Ricky Council,Bona or KJ. Who in the world wants to watch old guys run around with old legs plus Smallball is punishing for fans.

In his last game how do you turn the ball over 5 times and yet go 3-5 from 3 point range with 11 points in limited minutes. He is turning the ball over too much.I am not happy about those turnovers, especially since he already had a 6 turnover game this year.Totally inexcusable

Thanks for the daily David Jones report. He may not be the missing piece as he is a turnover machine.

His turnovers come from dribbling too much and not passing. He is a good passer. If you get too close to him he will blow by you. You can not keep dribbling. Those type of turnovers will double in the NBA. Why doesn't the coach tell him cut down on your dribbling.
