Thats how I think PHI fans are gonna be come time for Ben & Embiid to bolt.

We got Ben and Embiid locked up for most of their 20s.

I honestly won't mind letting them walk as they enter their 30s.

You get ahead of the curve and max out their value in a trade at some point

Danny Green in the Bubble
28 games 24.4 mpg 7.6 ppg 3.0 rpg 1.1 apg
35.6% FG%
32.2 3P%
57.9% FT%

Those shooting numbers are terrible, really bad.

This isn't 2014. Either he's cooked or he was injured or bit if both.
He's got a lot to prove imo, coz I am very doubtful about what he'll give us.

basically what he'll give us is no al horford contract. if they're counting on him to be a significant contributor, i think they'll be disappointed

I think you're right about Horford's contract. I think the Sixers probably have realistic expectations about Green's potential contribution.

The idea here was pretty simple.  Trade one player who had a down year for another player who had a down year.

Difference is our player who had a down year has a much bigger and longer contract.

If Green is truly "cooked" we part ways with him as a loss of just 15 million for one season and probably use the trade exception we got in the Horford trade to get another player to replace Green in our rotation.

If Horford is truly cooked, the Thunder are stuck eating 65 million dollars over 3 seasons.

I don’t think neither are cooked, but neither will have seasons like their past performances.  At this point you’ll get a few great games outta both, but you shouldn’t get your hopes up too high or too low IMO.  They are avg to slightly below avg guys at this point.  I wouldn’t be shocked if Horford has a really good season.  He just didn’t fit well, but if OKC uses him like they used Adams he’ll be fine.  Green is a different situation as a wing player, as a 3D guy.
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Rom 8:31)

Keep in mind too, if Horford is on this roster, neither one of Noel or Howard signs with us.

As a pure backup 5, I like Howard much more than Horford for a multitude of reasons.

Oh, definitely.  I like the trades personally.  Horford was a bad fit at PF, but as a C IMO he’s good.  Paying him that kind of  money kinda forced the org to start him whether he fit or not.  I like Horford over Howard IF it’s strictly a backup role.  Horford can do a lot as a C, especially down low.  I like Howard too, but Horford has more range.

I would have preferred limiting Horford to 25 minutes a game, playing him mostly at the 4.  I think with fresh legs his shooting and defense is perfect for the 4.

As a 5, Al gives you no rim protection.  I know he gets blocks, but I feel like a big chunk of them our outside the restricted area.  Near the rim he's almost a doormat.  Dwight conversely is that elevator door the mercilessly shuts in your face no matter how fast you run to catch it.

GR3 still available?
Is he asking for a ranch?
He was good for us last season, and if we can get him for low $ I'm in.

even with fresh legs Horford at 4 was a disaster

* it pushed harris to the 3 where he is far less effective
* horford isnt quick enough to guard on the perimeter and doesnt shoot well enough to be a stretch 4 - he is a 5
* horford starting meant we had too many bad shooters at the same time

also, Green played bad in the bubble
but quite a few players were not good in the bubble
Korkamz, Siakam, Kuzma, Kemba walker, paul george, Gasol to mention just a  few
the bubble was tough on a lot of players
hopefully Green just didnt like the bubble

Al on fresh legs is a great modern 4.  He's old now, so playing more than 25 a game is not an option.  Brett played him over 30.

No
he isnt
he is a solid shooter from distance - good enough for a center, not nearly good enough for a stretch 4
and his feet are just too slow to guard on the perimeter
but he doesnt have the bulk or hops to guard centers well either
he makes up for it with his smarts and his passing
but it doesnt matter if brett played him 40 minutes or 4
he is just not the athlete he once was
he is a solid player but not a $27 million regardless of position, coach, minutes or team

In the past two seasons Al's defensive rating when playing the 4 was light years better than his defensive rating when playing the 5.

This includes the 98.5 defensive rating he had playing alongside Baynes in Boston.

Al has never been good as a rim protector.  He's 6'9 with an 8'11 standing reach.

Would have been nice seeing what a proper coach would have done with Al and Joel.
