Gotta ask, why do you want a player that a team trying to win it all this year won't put on the court?  Lots of smoke there, gotta think there's fire.  And this is a team that was willing to put up with Jimmy Butler's BS.
Your hope stops you from being realistic...

You know damn well the Sixers don't have a chance to win it all... Again, we have had better rosters and failed...

As I stated, I would make that move. For one, it's 1 year less than George... And 2, we could buy him out the same way that Dame Dollars got bought out with the Bucks... This would signal real change... And that we are moving in another direction... You know we don't have a chance, but all this hope, flowers, and balloons is just that... Here we stand 4 games over .500, and you talking WIN IT ALL? BRO...

Two years ago, we had 55-63m in expiring contracts at the trade deadline, depending on Reed. You could have gone after anyone. But Morey let those expiring rot, and gave PG the bag. Worse, he included a 15% trade kicker, when no other team could even offer a 4 year deal.
At worst, you could have signed guys to 1 year deals and played the FA market the following year.
He already hung himself imo. Unless the sixers somehow make it to the finals, I expect a house-cleaning after this season. Morey and nurse both need to go.
I'm 100% WITH YOU ON THIS ONE... Because, I said the same thing lol... I mentioned signing 1-year deals and parlaying them into a better free agency...

We are damn if we do, damn if we don't... There simply is no trust factor for me... While Morey can draft a player here and there... He is the worst with free agency and trades... So I don't expect Morey to find something that will work... That is why I hope Bob Myers is going to help behind the scenes... Or he lets Morey hang himself... Outside of trading Paul George, I don't see an out.

What do you suggest we do? Almost none of us wanted PG or Embiids extension. Don't take it out on us. ;)
We're stuck with these contracts. All you can do is try to make it work. A PF in a reasonable deal wouldn't hurt, IMO. Barlow/Walker/Watford... there's a lot of room for improvement there.
Stop supporting the Sixers for one. Stop buying their merchandise... Stop going to the games... Stop buying League Pass... Protest... Complain to the Sixers front office... Spam the ownership...

I 100% do not agree with you regarding there's a lot of room for improvement there... Especially, when you are so close to the 1st apron... What you gonna get with the taxpayer MLE? What we getting for those expiring? MORE FOB'S (FRIENDS OF MOREY)...

We are the walking dead right now... Someone's head needs to be on a spear... Do you remember Alpha, put heads on spears to mark territory not to cross... Right now, Morey, Brand, and Knurse's heads should already be on spears... There is only 1 cure, CLEAN HOUSE with the front office and trade Embiid or George now and get some kind of value... And get rid of the other this summer (as I suggested before the season started)... But sure, let's do whatever it is that needs to be done... So once that fails, there is no more excuses for Morey... Because right now, the Sixers are just masking the odor...

do not disagree. just saying those are the only real options.

can't wait to see what shape the sixers and flyers are in when it opens
The biggest thing for me is what will BOB MYERS do... I'm on the record of saying that Bob Myers more than likely is going to let the season ride out... And he will evaluate after the season...

To your words of can't wait to see... The positive is that in 2029, we will own or have the ability to swap the Clippers pick... And we will own our 2030 and 2031 picks... This times out perfect with the new stadium...

I honestly don't believe the Sixers will accept failure... Granted, it was Morey who built this mess... Someone will have to pay for failure... It's going to take a magical ride for Morey to keep his job... 4 games over .500 is not good enough... My question would be, will Bob Myers oversee any move that Morey possibly could make... Or will they simply let Morey hang himself...

I think it was more about matchups than anything else.  PHX is a basically small ball team, and you need wings to matchup w them.  PG getting another day of rest was prolly due to them wanting him to rest for PHX wings.  PHX isnt a big team, they have Mark Williams, but thats about it at C.  And he's day to day.  He played last night tho.  You need wings when you play PHX.  Their whole team is basically G/F.  Williams, O'Neal, Brooks, Booker, and Gillespie are their starting 5.  Grayson is their 6th man.  Goodwin, Dunn, and Ighodaro fill out their rotation.  O'Neal starts at PF and he's 6'6.  They are a small ball team, but they can SHOOT.  They're also on 2d leg of back to back, as they played BKY last night.
I agree 100% with bskller... Matchup don't have anything to do with the Pacers stink and the Suns are a playoff contender... Maxey alone should have been good enough to beat the Pacers... And you come back with your full roster against the Suns...

The Sixers lost by 6 points... I'm not a Embiid fan, but he would have made up some kind of difference... The foul attempts at the line... Matchups? We're talking about matchups?

And this is why I say we have not been the same since Ben Simmons defensively, not to mention the advantage he had with smaller guards... Should we have not took advantage of Ben against the smaller players and made him a PF... Matchups? We talking Matchups... Not a NBA regular season game... Matchups...

PG to me is such a puzzy. just the vibe I get.

only 2 directions to go IMO: rebuild or go for it so to speak. That decision will come from ownership.

when is that new arena supposed to open?
I got a good laugh from this... 2030-31 is when the new arena opens... So that was my laugh, maybe by then we can get it right...

There is only 1 way to go, rebuild... As Einstein has said, and I remind everyone... The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results... Continuing to build around Joel Embiid is insanity...

We only look good against Tomato Cans... We continue to play just above a .500 team... We continue to make someone have career nights.... We continue to have Joel Embiid miss games... We continue to have Paul George miss games... We continue to have a lack of chemistry... We continue to have a flawed roster...

We are 15th in scoring, which is middle of the pack, average... The Sixers are +1.1 in points differential... FG PCT%, only Portland, Brooklyn, and the Pacers are worse... Middle of the pack in 3 point % tied 16th... Middle of the pack in rebounding, 16th in the league... One of the worst assist teams in the league, only Boston and LAC are worse, averaging 24.4 APG...

What are we doing? Stop lying to yourself as if this is some form of entertainment... As if we are some true contender... Stop saying we are a PF away... Because it's not the truth... Stop saying that Joel Embiid is back... That Paul George is back... Stop saying that we can win the EAST... Stop lying to yourself... Wake up and smell the coffee...

Sixers Forum / Re: The Month Of January Will Be Telling...
« on: Today at 04:30:43 am »
I'm really curious about the upcoming month... We currently stand at 16-14, on a three-game losing streak... The Sixers have gone 6-5 in the Month of December with Memphis the last game of the month... The Sixers have gone 1-3 against winning teams... I see at minimum 10 winning teams in the month of January... NY, Denver, Orlando, Toronto back to back, Cleveland back to back, Phx, Houston, and NY... We also play the Bucks with Giannis returned to the team... But we got a monster stretch of 7 out of 8 games who are currently in the playoffs...

Thu, Jan 1   @ Dallas Dallas 8:30 PM NBA TV   (WON) 1-0

Sat, Jan 3   @ New York New York 7:30 PM NBA TV (WON) 2-0

Mon, Jan 5 vs Denver Denver 8:30 PM   Peacock (LOSS) 2-1

Wed, Jan 7 vs Washington Washington 7:00 PM MNMT (WIN) 3-1

Fri, Jan 9 @ Orlando Orlando 7:00 PM   (WON) 4-1

Sun, Jan 11 @ Toronto Toronto 6:00 PM   (LOSS) 4-2

Mon, Jan 12 @ Toronto Toronto 7:30 PM  (WIN) 5-2

Wed, Jan 14 vs Cleveland Cleveland 7:00 PM  (LOSS) 5-3

Fri, Jan 16   vs Cleveland Cleveland 7:00 PM  (LOSS) 5-4

Mon, Jan 19 vs Indiana Indiana 7:00 PM  (WIN) 6-4

Tue, Jan 20 vs Phoenix Phoenix 7:00 PM  (LOSS) 6-5

Thu, Jan 22 vs Houston Houston 7:00 PM

Sat, Jan 24 vs New York New York 3:00 PM

Mon, Jan 26 @ Charlotte Charlotte 7:00 PM

Tue, Jan 27 vs Milwaukee Milwaukee 8:00 PM NBC Peacock

Thu, Jan 29 vs Sacramento Sacramento 7:00 PM

Sat, Jan 31 vs New Orleans New Orleans

Barely a game over .500 during this stretch... This is not how you want to be playing at the 42 game point... But the schedule shows some grace after the Rockets... If the Sixers don't win 4-5 straight to end the month, they simply aren't as good as you thought they were...

WHY in @ is Lowry on the bench? Someone gives me an answer. He's a waste. I don't think he played one game.
It's simple, have told you the last few years...

F.O.M. FRIENDS OF MOREY... There are too many names that Morey has brought from his Houston Rockets days to Philly...

Dwight Howard, Gary Clark, James Harden, P.J. Tucker, Montrezl Harrell, Danuel House, De'Anthony Melton, Patrick Beverley, Robert Covington, Marcus Morris, Kyle Lowry, and Eric Gordon. Morey is the worst GM in the F'N league... Just lazy...

Could this be the PAUL GEORGE TRADE?

I'll take a broken Butler back in return... And buy out Butler to become a free agent for next season...

Golden State would need to give us a 1st round pick back in return... I would love this thought... And if we can swap Grimes for Kuminga why not... We can keep Oubre at SF...

11
Yeah, they had a wink/nod deal like we had with Kelly. But then he signs for 3/45. How many stretch forwards give what he does at that price? You want markannen for 45m/year?
Tim Duncan I believe was making 10M when he could have made more than double that amount...

Many players in sports are willing to take less... Tom Brady took less, thus, won many more championships...

And lets give Kelly Oubre some credit... I notice many talk down from guys coming off injury... Oubre has been a starter for most of his stay with the Sixers... I personally have more confidence in him, than many others...

Do we win this game without him? 18 points on 8-14 shooting? 5 assists and 2 steals... While your boy Grimes had 5 points on 1-7 shooting...

If you look at their season stats, is there really that big of a difference between PG and KO? There is one difference. 1 guys makes 51.6M and the other 8.3M... How much better could we have been if that 51.6M was allocated to other needs and better players on the bench... Damn you Morey, Damn, Damn Damn in my best Florida Evans.

Steal them with kindness... Sixers 18 steals, Pacers 4... And the difference between Maxey/Embiid and Siakam/Nembhard is the story of the game... Embiid made as many free throws as the Pacers had as a team nearly...

The Sixers did what they were supposed to do against a tomato can... Moving on.

I don't believe in rest to save for another... We always make someone look like a freaking all-star... It's best to come away with the win, regardless of how you get them... Because you could lose both... Considering we have lost to the Nets and a depleted Nuggets team with GL talent at the time...

Nesmith and Siakam both got rest against the Pistons... Play to win or lose.

I read an article about the bucks possibly trading Portis. I would love to grab him. Does Oubre and Drummond get it done? Or Grimes and Drummond?
I'm a fan of Portis, has always been a hard worker... Seems to have gotten injured the last few years. Getting longer in the tooth, turning 31 next month...

But won't be mad at it...
