I do not see Jimmy Butler being able to move the needle forward, he is on the downside of his career. One has to admit that he has had a great career, one in which he should have won at least one title, he always kept up his end. It is now time to stop this nonsense in Philly where we do not play and develop the younger guys, instead we go after these pricey older veterans. This has to stop, it has not worked out for us in the last few years. We have lost quite a few good young players simply because we did not try to develop them, Brett Brown wouldn't play or try to develop them, Do Rivers wouldn't do it and now it seems like Nick is leaning that way. Daryl Moret definitely sees it that way if his fixation on older players is any indication. Some players can hang around and be productive in smaller roles as they age, but let's be real basketball is a young man's sport due to the physicality of the game which requires endurance over a rigorous 82 game schedule and possibly an additional 20 plus during the playoffs, I am not knocking the older players but as they age they become injury prone and require extra rest and time off to recover, some like Lebron can defy odds and keep going at a high level without a lot of time off, but the majority of them like Paul George cannot, that's why it was a reckless to offer him the kind of money that they did considering his injury history over the past few years, they could have gotten a lot more for a lot less, we have not gotten any production for that huge payday and all indications are we will not get it this year either, instead we are handcuffed in the free agency market and we are even struggling to sign our own free agents, yet Morey is still signing these old guys, Kyle Lowry, 39 tank is on E, Eric Gordon, 36 is not too far behind. they were out the door, and he pulled them back in...Why.
