Yes, exactly my point.

So The 6ers have one, "in his prime" all-star in Maxey. While, Embiiid is overpaid, most likely a former all star, he's past his prime and no longer has the defensive impact which is the most important role of a center (cant rebound, does not intimidate drivers). And VJ ie an unproven rookie who's career path is unknown. Plus the 6ers are saddled with PGs contract.

The Magic have 2 all-star caliber players who by the way are younger than Maxey and therefore theoretically at least have more room for growth. Plus more other intriguing youngsters from Anthony Black, Jalen Suggs, Tristan DiSilva etc. AND role players in their primes... like Bane, Carter Jr.

The Cavs have 3 players too. All on the right side of their prime and with more experience than a rookie.

I'm not trying to crap on the 6ers situation. I don't think it's nearly as bad as Cowboys and a few others try to suggest it is. But I am tryna be objective about it.

Your points are fair.
But VJ is gonna be special, trust me. 😆

Stuck? Yes maybe stuck with PG for 2 more years. But, I’m pretty sure it’s not a bad thing being stuck with the 2nd leading scorer at the center position.

The Cavs have been snake bitten with injuries? PG missed 18 games, Embiid 19 and Oubre 22? What do we call that?

We have 3 player to build around.. Embiid, Maxey and VJ. That’s the bottom line.

Now, if I could move PG, I would. I don’t think I would move Embiid unless a team blows me a way.

Embiid is blessed with talent. Unfortunately he can't seem to stay healthy.
I can't blame anyone who wants to keep him anymore than I can blame anyone who wants to move on from him.
I just want another chip. I'm 67, and all I got to show for 60 years of devotion is 1 championship.

The biggest thing for me is what will BOB MYERS do... I'm on the record of saying that Bob Myers more than likely is going to let the season ride out... And he will evaluate after the season...

To your words of can't wait to see... The positive is that in 2029, we will own or have the ability to swap the Clippers pick... And we will own our 2030 and 2031 picks... This times out perfect with the new stadium...

I honestly don't believe the Sixers will accept failure... Granted, it was Morey who built this mess... Someone will have to pay for failure... It's going to take a magical ride for Morey to keep his job... 4 games over .500 is not good enough... My question would be, will Bob Myers oversee any move that Morey possibly could make... Or will they simply let Morey hang himself...

Two years ago, we had 55-63m in expiring contracts at the trade deadline, depending on Reed. You could have gone after anyone. But Morey let those expiring rot, and gave PG the bag. Worse, he included a 15% trade kicker, when no other team could even offer a 4 year deal.
At worst, you could have signed guys to 1 year deals and played the FA market the following year.
He already hung himself imo. Unless the sixers somehow make it to the finals, I expect a house-cleaning after this season. Morey and nurse both need to go.

We only look good against Tomato Cans... We continue to play just above a .500 team... We continue to make someone have career nights.... We continue to have Joel Embiid miss games... We continue to have Paul George miss games... We continue to have a lack of chemistry... We continue to have a flawed roster...

We are 15th in scoring, which is middle of the pack, average... The Sixers are +1.1 in points differential... FG PCT%, only Portland, Brooklyn, and the Pacers are worse... Middle of the pack in 3 point % tied 16th... Middle of the pack in rebounding, 16th in the league... One of the worst assist teams in the league, only Boston and LAC are worse, averaging 24.4 APG...

What are we doing? Stop lying to yourself as if this is some form of entertainment... As if we are some true contender... Stop saying we are a PF away... Because it's not the truth... Stop saying that Joel Embiid is back... That Paul George is back... Stop saying that we can win the EAST... Stop lying to yourself... Wake up and smell the coffee...

What do you suggest we do? Almost none of us wanted PG or Embiids extension. Don't take it out on us. ;)
We're stuck with these contracts. All you can do is try to make it work. A PF in a reasonable deal wouldn't hurt, IMO. Barlow/Walker/Watford... there's a lot of room for improvement there.

embiid has given everything to this franchise without much reciprocation from them

if hes hurt its not his fault, he got hurt playing for us trying to win a championship

But i wouldnt put it out of the realm of possibility he reworks his contract.  By all accounts he seems like a good dude that just wants to win, he embarrassed Joshua Harris by paying the Wells Fargo employees when the owners wouldnt during covid.  Apparently acts like that don't get you very far in philly...

Still a low chance but he earned that contract.  If you got a contract like that on a job you got hurt on would you give back half the money?  No you wouldnt... no matter how much money you already have.  Simple as that.

So i think he has to be healthy and back to playing around 60 games a year for any potential discount to occur.  Then again if hes doing that hes worth the money.  Yea its probably not happening and its a very rare thing in sports for a reason.

But then again he doesnt want to go out on a sour note with philly fans so we will see how it plays out.  Right now things are good, lets just ride the wave.

I don't blame guys for getting all they can. I was responding to CB claiming that a lot of athletes take less than they could.
Can't agree with your first statement. Joel's been paid nicely for his services. Whether rendered or not.

6
Harden at least gave up some money to sign his buddy.

7
Tim Duncan I believe was making 10M when he could have made more than double that amount...

Many players in sports are willing to take less... Tom Brady took less, thus, won many more championships...

Those players are rare, and the teams they play for are fortunate.
I didn't see Embiid give us a much-deserved discount. Dude missed half his shifts but still got paid like he clocked in everyday.

Nah, they were simply the only team offering him more than the minimum that Covid off-season.  Teams were reluctant to spend money due to financial uncertainty.  We basically paid the Thunder a 1st to eat about 10 million in cap space on the Horford-Green trade.

He opted out after one season and they resigned him with their MLE.

Yeah, they had a wink/nod deal like we had with Kelly. But then he signs for 3/45. How many stretch forwards give what he does at that price? You want markannen for 45m/year?

Sixers up 93-88 with 8 minutes left, and I'm starting to feel a win.

Kelly Oubre has NO fear going to the basket. None. Wouldn't matter if Manute Bol and Bill Russell were standing there.
Sick pass from Walker to Grimes.

11
I was gonna say similar.  Portis said he didn't want to be traded after they won their 'Ship.  And he was willing to do whatever to say in MIL.

He's on a 3/45 right now. I don't think he even tested the market before he re-upped. You don't need the best players to win NBA championships, you need the best contracts.
He's a bargain at that number.

What was that SHARK?

Lol, I hope they make me look stupid.
We look SO much better when VJ's involved.

Can we get a new announcer team? I'm so tired of these two, it's the same routine every game.

Pretty sad start. This team don't like home cooking. Are we gonna lose to another cellar dweller?

If memory serves me right, we let Portis sign with the Bucks for barely more than minimum cause cheapo Josh Harris didn't want us using our mid-level exemption.

Somebody in Milwaukee has incriminating video on him. Dude's been playing cheap for them for years.
