Don't forget the difference in cost. Embiid will collect $69 million for the 2028-29 season. Davis may well be gone by then. I can only imagine what an albatross Embiid's contract will be in three years.

As I suggested, I think the Wizards acquired both Davis and Young, both former all stars, in order to develop the group of young players they are assembling. The Wizards are loaded with 1st and 2nd round picks. If they draft deftly, they may be contenders be the time Embiid moves on. Any team thinking of acquiring Embiid should have a more thoughtful plan than "he'll put us over the top".

I maintain there's an AD/Wizards type trade out there somewhere. The FO just needs to be willing to make it.

Trading Embiid may be possible but, to me, seems highly unlikely. Let's see what Embiid does over the remainder of this season and during the playoffs. Obviously, if he plays well, there may be some interest. Alternatively, if he plays well, Morey may not even consider trading Embiid. If he plays poorly or if he's injured yet again, the possibility of a trade will diminish or disappear completely.

The situation with AD is vastly different than that with Embiid. First, although Davis is frequently injured, he's missed far fewer games than Embiid. Secondly, he has two years remaning on his contract that will cost the Wizards about $121M. Embiid will cost the Sixers $193M over three years. Finally, Davis and Young (1 year, $48M) were acquired for players who are not part of the Wizards future. Besides Davis and Young, the Wizards roster is filled with young players and they will have an astonishing number of draft picks over the next several years. If the Wizards draft reasonably well and with Davis and Young to mentor the younger players, the Wizards could be contenders in two or three years.

This seems like a sound plan to energize a long-dormant franchise. I'm wondering what Morey's plan might be other than waiting until Embiid retires.

Defensively useless small guards who can't create their own shots are worth their weight in used toilet paper.

Morey used a mid 1st in a weak draft on McCain in hopes that he'd prove to be a much better facilitator than he's proven to be.

It's one thing to be mad at Morey for not acquiring someone better than Cam, but to cry over losing McCain is just silly.

Who the hell is crying over losing McCain? I was sorry to see him go because, as I noted when he was drafted, he can flat-out shoot the ball. I'm now hoping the Sixers get lucky with their first round pick. I agree that McCain is not a plus defender but "useless" is yet another of your ubiquitous exaggerations. You conveniently overlook the attribute that makes McCain a valuable NBA player - his ability to make three point shots. I have no doubt that he'll get a fair share of playoff minutes. Since he's been with OKC, he's their leading bench scorer and their leading three point shooter. You won't convince anyone that McCain has no value.

McCain has averaged 7.5 a game the last 4 games, and has yet to check into the game today.  Odds are he won't get a single minute of meaningful action come playoff time.

He's absolutely worthless in this current version of the NBA game, OKC was in a desperate need for offense due to a rash of injuries they incurred before the trade deadline, and had more draft picks on hand than it knew what to possibly do with.

Every NBA fan with an IQ north of 10 knew Morey won that trade the moment it was made.

The Rockets pick is at 23, and there are a bunch of teams within a game of them in the standing.

And this is an exceptionally deep draft, due to the fact that we're now 5 years removed from the Covid restrictions and the horrible impact it had on the academic, social and athletic development of so many young athletes.

7.5 a game in  the last 4 games? That's cherry-picking. Today, he's put up 15 on 5 for 8 shooting and 5 for 7 from three and the game's not over. In the 15 games he's played so far for OKC, he's averaged 11.9 ppg on 45% from three. How could a bum like that see a minute in the playoffs?

This is a stock media release probably written by a lawyer. "Mental health issue" is a general term and not a specific condition."Depression" is a specific medical diagnosis. Nowhere has it been reported that Paul George had been diagnosed with depression. Nowhere has it been reported that Paul George had been diagnosed with anything. Paul George is an intelligent and highly experienced man. It is likely that he has known any number of other players who have been treated for depression over the years. He undoubtedly knew that anti-depression medication was an acceptable mode of treatment under the CBA.

Why would he decide to take a drug that he probably knew was a banned substance when legitimate alternatives were readily available?

No NBA GM is looking at PG's 25 game suspension due to depression medication as an issue of durability

Same with PG being shut down after the all star break last season when the organization as a whole decided to tank like it's never tanked before.

He's had minor issues since being here.  Nothing crippling like a torn ACL or Achilles.

Him and Embiid will be healthy for the playoffs.  Gonna be a lot of "I never said what I said" claims by Sixer fans in about 2 months.

Paul George was not suspended for taking medication for depression. The NBA has approved any number of anti-depression or anti-anxiety medications for use by the players. Anyone with the intelligence of a fruit fly would understand that George knowingly took a banned substance to give himself a competitive advantage.

So he'll miss the Hawks,Cavs and Griz before he's reevaluated.

Apparently, they don't want him back. For the Sixers, next year, Kawai will be an expiring contracts - that's huge.

Sixers Forum / Re: NBA Mock Draft 2026

Been looking ahead to who PHI could possibly draft at the mid-low 20s.  Right now they're slotted at 25.  Looking at mock drafts some have PHI taking a C, most notably 7'0 UNC Henri Veesaar.  He has a complete game and would easily replace Drummond as C3 as a rookie.  Athletic enough, inside/outside, rebounder, and rim protector.  Great high/low or P/R player IMO.  It's a safe pick.   Aday Mara (7'3 UM) is another player I seen that PHI could possibly draft.  I'm not feeling this pick at all.  He's huge, but kinda slow defensively, and doesn't really have any skills per se.  He's just a big man who can catch lobs, and post up, and rim protect to some degree.

some Fs prolly available

JT Toppin or Koa Peat.  Both are traditional PFs, not stretch.  They're both listed at 6'8, but Peat looks shorter.  He reminds me of Carlos Boozer....same type of game and build.  Toppin is more like Time Lord w skills.  Or better yet, Kurt Thomas, for you OGs who know.  Neither are gonna stretch the offense, but put the power in PF.  These guys would be great dunker spot players....a definite upgrade over either Walker or Barlow based off their offensive ability down low.  It may take them a minute as rookies to adjust to the NBA game, but they are both NBA talent.

Late to Undrafted sleepers:

Alex Karaban (6'8 F UCONN) is projected to go in 2d rd.   Depending on what the board does ahead of PHI and who's available, I'd kick the tires.  He's not athletic, but he can flat out shoot.  Not gonna wow anyone on defense either, think Mini Van.  We cry about not findng guys like Hauser, Santos, Jovic, etc.  Well, he's one of those guys.  Very efficient 3 ball shooter.  Can't leave him open.  High BBIQ.

Joshua Jefferson (6'9 PF ISU)   Very skilled big in the sense of an all around game.  He's what we thought Watford would be as far as having great court vision and ball handling.  Can score inside/outside.  Not a shot blocker or rim protector, but defends well using size and strength.  Improved 3 ball and if it continues he could be a steal.  High BBIQ.

Some decent prospects available. I like Jefferson as a safe pick. He's mature, experienced and well rounded but he's also 23. Do they draft for upside or immediate help? I see Jefferson as maybe a rotation players but not much else. If they wanted to roll the dice, there's Dash Daniels, an 18 year old Aussie combo guard, brother of Dyson Daniels. I've seen him listed at 6'5", 6'6" and 6'7".  Heavy on potential, light on accomplishment.

I told y'all back during SL, that CHA would take a step if they stayed healthy.  They were my sleeper team to surprise in the East.  Once I seen KonK and McNeely ball, I knew it then.  McNeely isn't in their rotation, but that kid can ball too.  They went out at the deadline and got Coby White, Williams & Miller are back healthy, and Melo is playing in control.  They've taken that step, and will be a scary team in the playoffs.  They play fast, they're young, athletic, and everybody can shoot.  They're not scared of any team either.  Got rid of MJ and the team started making better decisions.  LOL!!!  I like them alot!

Sixers security was allegedly escorting fans out of the arena for chanting, "SELL THE TEAM" at Josh Harris...lol!!!  This had me CTHU....

Spot on. Hornets now 2 1/2 in back of the Sixers.
