Still need upgrade for Barlow. He is not bad but not ready to start for a contender.May be next year he will be ready.

it feels like the 5th starter is up in the air

love barlow - he is a keeper. so is walker

when its crunch time either Oubre or Grimes will fill that slot depending on the opponent.  maybe even barlow or Bona if were playinmg against a twin tower scenario

I have been away from here for a bit

but never missed a sixers game

this team is good enough to go to the finals

maxey is a god
VJ has improved so much already just from 40 games - his ceiling is beyond all of us - he might be anything, even a future MVP
PG has absolutley bounced back
Embiid is still Embiid - incredible
Grimes has established himself as a 6th man of the year contender

and now that Oubre is back we are deep!
barlow and Walker have been good and will earn real contracts

we obviously dont fear anyone in the east except a boston team with tatum back
we can beat detroit and have already beaten everyone else

its good to be the king!

Sixers Forum / Re: Should Bona be in G-league?
« on: January 13, 2026, 05:28:33 pm »
I like athletic bigs as much as anyone, but Bona needs to learn how to play, imo. For a guy his size, he doesn't rebound very well. He looks out of position a lot. I don't see teams backing away from him either. I like his athleticism, but he needs to learn how to use his body better.
Drummond gets trashed on this board, but to me he's a much better player than Bona.
I think Bona and McCain both need a couple months of G-league playing time.

Bona is raw and inconsistent

I get sending Edwards and mcCain to the G league - Edwards because he isnt playing a lot and McCain because he clearly has work to do

Bona is getting more time - sometimes the back up, sometimes as a PF, and he shows a lot of flashes of real value

and theres plenty of games where Drummond is NOT the right option and Bona needs to be there and available

No hate. Watch him play on person. He's slow, can't get off the ground right now. He's amazingly talented and getting by on that and his size. Made some fantastic passes tonight. He's not what he once was, he's not close to being an MVP level player. The idea that the sixers should tank and trade him isn't going to work. Professional scouts watching him know his limitations right now (and maybe going forward). The sixers best chance is to play with him, hope he can get thru the playoffs and trade for a piece that compliments him and maxey. But if you watch him play in person, he's a shell of his former self.

whoa
seriously??

hardly a shell
maybe you dont really follow the sixers?
he starts EVERY season slow - this time he was recovering from  major surgery
he is now back to 30 and 10 on offense but his defence is still a work in progress - that will likley take a few more weeks

i agree he wont ever be the same athletic defensive center but he is pretty close to being a major scorer again - perhaps even an all-nba selection by seasons end ?

Embiid can't jump. He's doing all of this on athletic ability and size, but he is half a step slow and he can't get off the ground.

he lloks better and better every game. getting his legs under him

but i suspect a 30 ,10 and 5 assists scorer at high efficiency is our best case scenario with below average defense
he just cant jump or change directions quickly
but he will still be a devasting scorer

Sixers Forum / Re: Trade Deadline
« on: January 01, 2026, 06:10:24 pm »
Might as well get this started.  We're a little over a month away from the Feb 5 deadline

DM is prolly on the phone right now trying to talk up a trade.   McCain, Watford, Drummond, EG, Broome, Edwards, and possibly Walker if signed to a standard deal are all prolly on stand by.  Any combination of those contracts could get them something at the deadline and please believe DM will do something.  If theres an ex Rocket or Viper out there flapping, DM will find him...lol!!!

DEN outta Cs right now....just saying.  Does PHI still have the rights to Charles Bassey?

I thought Broome could be cut in order to keep Barlow, but I just looked at his contract.  He signed a $8M/4yr deal.  Thats alot of money for him and what he's done.  I get its only a AAV of about $2M, but dang Barlow making $85K.

they would be crazy to trade mccain - he is a shadow of what we saw last year and we know he is recovering from knee and thumb injuries so why sell low when a 21 year old is only playing his 50th professional game - we need to see what we have got first
same with Watford - Maxeys buddy showed real flashes of talent before his injury. terrible time to trade him too
and , respectfully, on a team when embiid is your center you need two backups and drummand has been great

We all hope so, but I'm not in the bizness of crowning players after 23 games, UNLESS they are named LBJ, Wemby, AI3, Shaq, MJ, Magic, Larry Legend...etc

u might need to change your process then

a kid who came into the league as an ultra-athlete and fantastic defender but cant shoot or create his own shot or be a  playmaker

is actually a terrific shotmaker and playmaker and can get his won shot whenever he likes

he is amazing

38 % from 3??? for a guy who supposedly couldnt shoot??

If we can win games while short changing Grimes on minutes it's a win win.

His dumbass made it impossible for Morey to get anything of value for him in a trade, while knowing full well that we were gonna have a guard heavy roster this year.

really>?
averaging 15.3,  4 and 4.4 assists
shooting 36% from 3
top 5 in 6th man of the year voting

but you, the almightly arbiter of who is good - ben, jonah - and who is terrible - maxey - are telling us he is a dumbass?

i suppose you'd rather have caleb who might b out of the league by Monday

seriously, just stop

How in the world did they give Grimes an A for last night? He had 5 turnovers.

gee i dont know?

maybe because he had 19 and 9 and lead the team in assists and 3rd in scoring?

yes too many turnovers and shot poorly from 3 last night but hes a stud

I dont understand the Grimes disrespect except that the basketball IQ on this site isnt very good

he's our 4th leading scorer despite playing less minutes than almost all the other scorers
he's  2nd in assists
he's shooting 36% from 3 and is one of our best Fg % and FT % players and he is the 4th leading 6th man scorer in the NBA

holy crap he is 16.4 pts 3.4 rebs and 4.3 assists and a good defender

what the hell is your problem??

Sixers Forum / Re: Is Sam Hinkie Blackballed?
« on: November 20, 2025, 02:17:18 am »
There's no conspiracy against Hinkie.

Or Brown.

Neither was offered a second chance at their jobs once we fired them.

I would think a successful "business man" like yourself would respect the free market's decision on this one.

Sam knew he would never be offered another job. and that he would never want another GM job - he mentally moved on long ago according to interviews
after all, according to his critics,  all he did was reduce a 40 win team to a 10 win team

of course that ignores

* that that was EXACTLY what we needed to do to become a contender
* all the draft picks he obtained, later to be squandered by Colangelo, brand and brown
* drafting Holmes, Embiid, Grant and finding hidden gems like Covington and TJ.

basically other than having an idiot franchise like the clippers hand presti SGA and a million 1sts, Sam did what Presti did. just didnt have the assets to play with that OKC had.

brown never got another coaching job ever. oh, wait, yes he did - at the Spurs. but thats just Pop being nice according to you

and, yes, i am "successful", but, boy, right now, those "quotes' are appropriate, having spent over $700 K on renovating  a shop in someone elses building, to try and turn a business that made $40 K a year into one that makes $400 K a year.
not feeling very successful now - thats for sure.

He wasn't a particularly good GM.

What he did was to poke and prod other GMs day and night with lopsided trade offers in hopes that one would bite.

It effectively stopped working by the time he was fired.

If he had had his way we'd have drafted Wiggins instead of Embiid.  What evidently set him off was Brett and Colangelo vetoing his idea to draft Ingram over Simmons.

lololol youre kidding right?
wasnt a particularly good GM???  only turned a nowhere mid-level team into a contender. amassed enough draft capital that only complete morons could blow it?

stopped working??
he never got to use all the incredible draft picks he acquired for us

he wouldnt have picked fultz
he wouldnt have held on to noel and okafor
he wouldnt have drafted korkmaz and TLC or let Grant be traded for nothing

best GM we had in 50 years

and as usuakl u have no idea that he wanted wiggins. seriously u r so wrong sometimes lol

cue the insult

12 turnovers and winning is crazy... Grimes and Barlow both 1-4 shooting... VJ playing like some shhhh...

Who would have thought that we are only winning because of Watford, Walker, and McCain lol...

SO AM i TO assume as i read on i will see you praising grimes after your initial reaction turned out to be completely wrong? i mean - 21 pts on 4-8 shooting from 3? pretty damn good i am sure u would agree?

JRTHEBEAT-it’s more about previous injuries that he could’ve avoided like driving down the top of the key and being sandwich between two players that causes him to crash on the floor. It’s more or less about him doing stupid things on the floor that causes injuries.

yeah but while no one wants him diving to the floor or throwing himself into the stands we also acknowledge those are instinctive and split second and deep down we also dislike players who wont put in the effort to chase the ball

i just hate sixers fans calling embiid soft or the like because he gets hurt

I am so angry with Embid. He is making so much money along with Paul George and these guys can not get on the court. It's not fair to the fans. I also think as good as Jaden Ivey is  he is becoming like BROKEN GLASS like Deandre Hunter. I wish we had a center like Jalen Duren. I love his game.Cunngham is a greta player and he has size.

how do u get angry at a player for having a sore knee?

not like he wanted it? what difference does it make how much money he makes?

pretty obvious management have - correctly - and finally - realised its better he misses games in November in order to be healthy in May
