Joe, I lost a terrific son in law yesterday on my Anniversary too by the way. He worked for Johnson and Johnson but had to take the mandatory jabs and the boosters to keep working. He was not working with the jabs department but had to have them anyway. He died of a heart attack yesterday from those jabs. He was in perfect health and was a former football player and a coach for kids in all sports. He left behind two sons and made my youngest daughter a widow at 40 years of age!

In 1990, Pallone wrote a memoir alleging that he was forced out of Major League Baseball after the 1988 season because, he says, "I was gay, and they didn't want the publicity surrounding that to tarnish baseball's macho image. In other words, they were prepared to sacrifice a proven, veteran umpire so they wouldn't look bad." The interview goes on to laud Dale Scott and appreciate that Scott will be the first person on a Major League Baseball field open about being a gay person.

From Pallone’s wiki page:  Pallone was overheard saying in an umpire’s meeting that he deliberately stood in front of Reds short stop Dave Concepción to interfere with his fielding. The comment brought surprised stares from those surrounding him and Pallone made no attempt to hide his disdain for the Cincinnati Reds.

And it is my hunch that Rose didn't play ball with some  real gamblers and  a  fix  was in  against him. Giamatti started it when he stupidly banned Rose for 30 days for bumping an ump. After the ump poked Rose in the face first. 

BINGO. Remember that slimebag, Pallone like it was yesterday, and we can bet it's just the tip on the iceberg of stuff swept under the rug. Anyone with one eyeball could see Pallone poke PR in the face first.

 SEPT. 22, 1988  UPI: NEW YORK -- Dave Pallone, who resigned as a National League umpire Monday, is under investigation as part of an inquiry into alleged sex crimes against teenage boys in Sarasota, N.Y., according to reports.
WRGB-TV in Schenectady, N.Y., aired allegations Monday and Wednesday night that Pallone was in the company of a 14-year-old boy last December. The station quoted a source, whose face was obscured and voice altered for anonymity, that claimed the meeting was arranged by Bill Desadora, a Sarasota businessman who has been charged with sodomy.
The New York Post quoted the station's capital bureau chief, Judy Sanders, that the controversial umpire recently was 'in the company' of a number of the boys and men involved in the case.
The inquiry has produced one sodomy conviction and charges of sodomy against six other men. Pallone has not yet been charged with any crime.
Stewart Jones Jr. of Troy, N.Y., an attorney retained by Pallone, confirmed to New York Newsday that the umpire -- currently on a leave of absence from work -- requested the leave because of the investigation….
At the April 30 New York Mets-Cincinnati Reds game in Cincinnati this season, Reds Manager Pete Rose strongly protested a call at first base, bumping Pallone. SEPT. 20, 1988  LATimes: Several years ago, Pallone publicly said he had run up a gambling debt of more than $1,000 while betting on sports events other than baseball      Yeah, suuuuure. It was never alleged Pallone bet on any baseball games, although his gambling drew concern from baseball officials…. During his time in the majors, Pallone was often among the lowest-rated umpires in the NL.

Pallone admitted an ongoing dispute with Cincinnati’s Dave Concepcion that began in 1983 and confessed he sometimes tried to block the infielder’s view. Last year, Pallone ejected Concepcion for arguing a called strike but later acknowledged, “I missed the pitch.”
