Eagles Forum / Nola Post- Gone!
« on: September 16, 2025, 08:34:26 am »
Yesterday morning I posted my thoughts about Nola and his performance.  It seems to have disappeared.  I can only guess that there's a moderator who likes Nola, and took  down my critical thoughts. lol  I don't know though, because I received no message about what was wrong with it.  I did use a four letter word, but the forum automatically censored it.  I've read MUCH more critical postings than mine, for sure.  I'm pretty new to this forum.  Is this how it is?

Eagles Forum / Nola- Show Some Emotion!!
« on: September 15, 2025, 09:41:53 am »
It's always been said that Nola is even-keeled, low key, you can't tell when he has a bad game, etc.  Maybe he needs to get PISSED OFF and throw some **** around!  He says the same stuff all of the time:  I have to do better, I can't have that bad inning, the fans are great, my teammates are great, yadda, yadda.  I wonder, if I had his money and potential, if I would just be content to show up and plan on getting shelled, or would I work my ass off trying to improve?

Ownership gives these guys all of this money; and hell, I would take it too.  Some players seem to try too hard to earn a big contract, and don't perform.  It seems Turner was like that.  He figured it out.  Some players, I think, just take the money.   GRRRRRRR! >:( >:(

Phillies Board / Sources For Philies Info
« on: July 07, 2025, 02:40:26 pm »
I just deleted "That Ball's Outta Here" from my list.  I have a few other sources for info.  None that seem to just tell the story.
"TBOH" has two stories today that broke the camel's back for me.  One headline says Zach Wheeler went nuclear on Austin Hayes for taunting the crowd after he hit his hr yesterday.  That story says NOTHING to that effect. And the other says that Schwarber "dropped a massive hint " about where he'll be next year. He merely mentioned that he might participate in next year's HR derby.  The game is in Philly, so if he gets selected, he'll be here no matter whom he's playing for?
Other stories that are weak are the ones that play up "4 Phillies that suck and shouldn't" kind of waste.
It's bad enough that almost every headline is a tease to get a click, but the story should at least be accurate!  They won't be getting ANY of my clicks anymore!
"Rant "off".   >:( ;D

What are good sources for info?

Phillies Board / "Playing For A Contract"
« on: March 30, 2025, 01:14:56 pm »
The media constantly reminds us that a player in the last year of his contract will try to outperform the previous years.
If that's the case, and I was a team owner, I'd want to know why he didn't play better in the previous years.
Let's say he does outperform in his last year, am I to believe that the teams that try to sign him the next year believe that he won't play as well again until it's contract time?
I certainly didn't play any sports professionally, but I didn't have different levels of performance.  I find it hard to believe that a pro could do it, even though they have been coddled all of their lives.
Also, it doesn't seem fair to his team mates.  They're all not trying except for contract years?

Phillies Board / Re: Stream Games $25 per Month?

broadcasts  by national networks (Fox, ESPN, Apple) are not included in this offering.   Roko will have Sunday morning games again but they are free. One Phillies game on Roko this year.
Oh, gotcha.  My wife has Roku.  I'm not worried about those other few games.
Well, whether you're affiliated with Phillies.TV or not, thank you for your time and the information!

It may be a good deal for you.    That story didn't cover a lot of details.

Phillies games streamed on PHILLIES.TV are subject to national exclusivities.
Subscribers will have access to all Phillies Regular Season games (subject to national exclusivities). Regular season games exclusively broadcast by national networks (Fox, ESPN, Apple) are not included in this offering.

If you purchased the PHILLIES.TV Monthly subscription, the payment card you have on file with us will be billed monthly on approximately the same monthly date that you originally purchased, with monthly billing for each month of the 2025 MLB season through and including October. You can verify your monthly billing date in your MLB Account under “Manage Subscriptions.”

 Auto-renewal Details

PHILLIES.TV Monthly: By clicking “Buy & Accept Terms,” you agree to the MLB.com Terms of Use and the MLB.com Privacy Policy. You also agree that your subscription to PHILLIES.TV Monthly will renew monthly through and including September, and will automatically renew annually on or about March 1 each year at the then-current year’s regular full monthly price. You can cancel your automatic renewal any time before the billing period.

You still need 4 other apps to get all the games.  Still cheaper than cable.
Thanks for the reply, bigel57.

I did see that info, and don't see any loopholes.  In the past, there's always been a reason whatever deal is offered won't work.

 Just a few questions:

-You mention a payment card being on file with "us".  Are you affiliated with Phillies.TV?  (I do have an MLB account.)

-This link says no playoffs via Phillies.TV.  But that's okay,  I'll pay for YoutubeTV for playoffs.  https://support.mlb.com/s/article/Phillies-In-Market-Offering?

-What do I need 4 other apps for?

Phillies Board / Stream Games $25 per Month?
« on: March 23, 2025, 12:27:24 pm »
https://thatballsouttahere.com/phillies-fans-love-long-awaited-mlb-nbc-sports-tv-partnership

I don't have Comcast, mostly because I despise the company.  I have tried YouTubeTV, but it's up to $75 per month (at last check), and it comes with a lot of cable channels.  I don't watch any TV other than Phillies games, so that's a waste. -$75 per month just to watch some baseball games.

Can this deal, mentioned in the linked article, be happening without any strings?  It's like YoutubeTV, in that you pay by the month, and can cancel anytime.  It only lasts through September, so I'd have to get Youtube for any playoffs.

I'm surprised that I haven't seen any mention of it other than the linked article.

I must be missing something.

Phillies Board / Taijuan Walker
« on: September 07, 2024, 09:52:59 am »
The Phillies say he needs to increase his velocity.  I have not seen why his velocity is down.  (Poor reporting.)  It seems to me that throwing a weighted ball is a recipe for arm trouble.  But I'm farrrr from being any kind of expert.  When my "velo" was down, it was because I got old, lol.

Another thing.  Why do clubs spend millions and millions to win it all, but they won't eat a contract like Walker's?  He's gotta be a pariah in the clubhouse.  It's easy for me to spend their money, but that roster spot could be used by someone who is just waiting to blossom.  Marty Bystrom, anyone?

He didn't even pitch in last night's blowout of the Marlins.

I always thought The Constitution charged the media with being neutral and honest.  If that's true, Congress should address the problem.  Fat chance.

Oh, no email reply from Crumcast, er I mean NBCsports.

Phillies Board / Re: WBC
« on: April 26, 2023, 05:32:53 pm »
This was conceived by Bud Selig, then the commissioner of baseball and it was his 'goal' to improve the popularity of the sport I believe. With other countries buying in and then holding back your own professional players would be a contradiction to having the tournament and a bit of a farce to crown a 'champion' by playing minor leaguers or college kids. There has always been opinions on the timing and players do have the option. It's not perfect but if you're going to have WBC, kind of defeats the purpose prohibiting your guys while everyone else buys in, especially when you started it.
Thanks.  It certainly doesn't work very well.

I read a piece on Salisbury that might be the reason that he left. His daughter had major life threatening health problems and was in a wheel chair now. His focus on the game wasn't there with that going on.

And the late posting by NBC  might be because they have went through a house cleaning there and just may not have the personnel covering things like they used to.
Thanks for that info.

Another thing they're guilty of: Changing article titles without changing the article.  It just gets them clicks.

I emailed them today. I'll be surprised if I get any response, let alone something more than fluff.

Yeah, there's more important things to worry about; it just bugs me.

Why do they let major league players participate?  Especially pitchers?  Ranger Suarez hurt himself in early March.  Do you think maybe he over did it?
Of course, there's no way to know for sure, but if his injury maybe cost the Phillies a couple wins, I hope they don't miss the playoffs by that same amount.

Thanks for the replies.

NBCsports still hasn't posted an article about Saturday's game. They went straight to Sunday's game. No explanation. That's a first over the years I've been reading it.  Strange.

It's not so much that I need game info, it's just I've never seen this before.
