So Briere doesn't make any trades at the deadline because................Comcast has told him to remain mediocre?  That's the only explanation.  There's no reason Briere shouldn't have dumped a half-dozen of these Losers to stockpile assets (and/or get cap space).

Flyers are in hockey Purgatory.  Not good enough to make the playoffs, not bad enough to get high draft picks, to draft players who could actually make a difference (O.K., maybe Michkov and Martone pan out, but that's years away).  That is a death sentence in a salary-capped league.  But that's o.k., with their mid-1st round picks I'm sure Briere and the scouts will find plenty of third-line grinders, like Luchenko and Nesbitt, so we'll remain perpetually in Purgatory.

This team IS NOT making the playoffs.  Briere's job this trade deadline was basically two things:

1) Acquire future assets (a.k.a. draft picks)
2) Create future cap space

No reason Sanheim and Ristolainen couldn't have been traded.  Yeah, maybe you get more assets by trading them later, but who cares, they're LOSERS.

I can understand not trading Shutdown Shithead, because he has the worst contract in the NHL, and no team/contender wants to be on the hook for that abomination.

There is literally no reason that Briere shouldn't move Ristolainen at the deadline.  None.

Actually NOT trading him should make every Flyer Fan question Briere's competency as a GM (as if we aren't already, LOL).
