Need them to step up as Wheeler ages and. Ola continues his cliff dive.

Spot on. Nola has looked better but he's spent most of the spring in the WBC team so we haven't seen him much. I hope he does better than last year, but couldn't get eyes on some guys with the WBC.

I've heard good things about Pan from someone I trust, hearing you endorse him makes me even more bullish.

These kids now throw so damn hard.  95 mph doesn't even seem impressive anymore 😂

When we drafted Wood he was being advertised as a fast riser who could potentially be our closer in the near term.

When you go to BayCare Ballpark here in Clearwater, home for the Threshers, it's really awesome to get seats right behind home plate. It's the only place to sit if you are looking forward to seeing a top prospect pitch. The first time I got these seats a couple of years ago I took my two sons and my grandson and granddaughter. McGarry was pitching on a rehab assignment. When these guys pitch, the ball hits the glove and makes a very unique sound. Painter the same way when he made his debut against the Yankees It's fun if you know the guys who will be pitching that night. It was fun to watch Pan when he was here too.

I think Pan and Wood are the real deals. I'm excited to see them.

I don't know why it bugged me that he was listed at 6'1.  I believe it was ESPN that kept up the ruse.

I'm happy for Sanchez, this is generational wealth.

I think there are a few guys we will see in the next year or two, pitchers that is, who are going to impact this roster in the next 1-2 years. I start with Painter and then Wood, and then Pan, the kid from Taiwan who is back from TJ surgery. There are many others of course but these are kids I have been following.Abel was another one but they got good value for him with Dohan. The other one who DD dumped was Ben Brown, with Chicago now. The Cubs baptized him by fire last year and it was a bumpy ride. Interested to see how he does this year. Brown was one of the three with Abel and Painter who were coming up together kind of.

His agent and him clearly have a good relationship with DD.  Sanchez is one of guys who appreciates where he came from and how important this was to his family, the first contract that is. There are a few of us who watched him rise and it's a great story per se, for him. I too am thrilled for him. We watched another guy bloom right in front of us, but came from the farm system, and that's Ranger. I think DD wanted to see Sanchez stay in the organization and he took a bit of a chance with this contract, but I think the team is going to be rewarded for this one.

He's be 30 at the end of this year, but injury free and mechanically clean.

@MattGelb
Phillies have ripped up Cristopher Sánchez’s contract and agreed to a new six-year deal from 2027 to 2032 with a club option for 2033. More to come

The new contract guarantees Cristopher Sánchez $107 million through 2032, including his $3.5 million salary in 2026, according to a league source.

Do you remember a few years ago when you questioned how tall Sanchez was and they listed him like 6'1. Now he like towers over everyone and I can't get this out of my head. But, he was too old to have a growth spurt when he moved up to majors.

Phillies will go Sánchez, Nola, Luzardo, Walker, Painter to begin the season.

Could be the best rotation in the league even without Wheeler.

Thanks to the cut fastball.

Painter has shown something this spring which I think coaches were hoping and that's command

The two guys who seem stuck are Turner and Schwarbs. Neither have had much going on at the plate although Schwarbs was with Team USA where he had a few hits. Anyway, nice to see others like Garcia and Crawford starting to hit the ball like you want to see and Sanchez and Luzardo have looked pretty sharp.

Skubal looked very normal and hittable today. It makes you wonder if, all of a sudden, he becomes more like the pitcher several years ago rather than in 2024 and 2025?

i believe you on johnson, but seeing that is suprirising given the guys they brought in this year that dont have options, but saying that, i havent looked at how those guys are doing, just at the start of spring wasnt expecting him to make it.

dylan moore got hurt today and he has a roster out coming soon. he may bought time with an IL stint? stubbs may just make the roster...would think its moore, de la cruz or stubbs. kemp would be have to float around more then they are probably hoping.

Johnson has options I believe so they could use that. But, when a guy comes into spring training and simply dominates and answers all the question marks, what message does it send when he gets sent to AAA and it's also clear Johnson is the better pitcher to help this club. I believe he makes the team and heads north on the Phillies final 26. He has really improved over last year, Johnson that is. He came with Chace in 2024 but never looked like the player profiled.

Painter and Johnson looked very sharp. Good outings for both of them. Johnson looks like he is heading north with the club.

I really hope Howie doesn't give up 2 1sts for Crosby.

But if we flipped AJ for a 1st and 2nd and flipped those for Maxx, I'd be OK with that.

It doesn't make any sense anyway you cut it. Just leave Crosby be with the Raiders and enjoy the success of past drafts like Davis, Carter, Campbell, Smith, Hunt, etc.

It's a weird system, but largely predictable.

Woolen cancelling out Dean's contract would be unfortunate as Dean got a 3 year deal, but I like Woolen that much.  The knock on Woolen is that he's averse to tackling and prone to getting boneheaded penalties.

Given his size I don't think the contact aversion is that big a deal.  But Philly is not the type of town that will forgive you for getting a season ending taunting penalty.  I hope Woolen has outgrown that trait.

I guess they said to him 'you have one season to get your act together and mature'.  He certainly has a reputation but does he get it. I think the wording on his new contract for "up to" $15 million has a lot to do with penalties received for taunting and on field behavior based on what I hear.

Maxx Crosby got off crutches Feb 27th ish   what kind of Physical is he supposed to pass   2-1/2  weeks since he got off crutches ?   I think Ravens got cold feet and didnt want to give up two 1st .   I just dont know whats hes supposed to be able to do just coming off surgery !!

I'll bet that the front office of the Ravens heard all the negative chatter with their deal.
