Sixers Forum / Would you make this trade?
« on: November 14, 2025, 10:09:49 am »
There is smoke that the Kings are about to blow things up, and Sabonis might be available.  How about PG and a 1st for Sabonis? He's younger, has lower AAV, and helps fill a need at PF and rebounding, 12.3 rpg.  Would you make this trade?

I do watch the games.  Doubling a player is a risk/reward strategy.  If the player being doubled isn't able to consistently anticipate it coming and find the open man and make the defense pay for trying to double him, and on top of that turns the ball over, then it's a reward for the defense that outweighs the potential risk.  THAT'S why Embiid gets doubled so often compared to other star players.   You watch the Nuggets at all in the playoffs?  Teams have to be selective when attempting to double Jokic because he makes them pay for it.  If they double him too often, he finds the open man and it turns into points.

For his career in the playoffs, Embiid has 182 assists to 218 turnovers.  Jokic has 712 assists to 311 turnovers.
And that's why Joel now, predominantly, plays at the nail because they can't double him there.  That's where Joker plays almost exclusively for the majority of his peak years so he definitely  can't get doubled.

Morey looks to have added Broome, Watford and now Walker who can all play minutes at the 4

hopefully one of them breaks out?

have to remeber Aluma is about 27 now so he should have stood out against players 5 or 6 years younger?

He was 25 during summer league last year.

Sixers Forum / Re: Is VJ Edgecombe A Franchise Player?
« on: June 27, 2025, 01:22:09 pm »
I did not like the pick... Knowing that Joel is on his last leg... This pick was more about FIT, ROLE, and COMPLIMENTARY... I just can't see VJ being the #1 option down the road... Those are the types of picks you desire...

I wanted a player that would make you want to move on from Joel... Someone who had the potential to be a STAR-SUPERSTAR...

We did draft Joel at 3 if you recall... I think he will bring some of the things we lost with Thybulle and Ben defensively... I'm not sure to what level in the NBA until we see it... I'm afraid he's going to be #12 in the corner... The ball swings and brick... I hope working on his midgame, free throw, and 3 point shot is a must... I believe he will be a really great slasher type of player... If you would of told me we got this guy where we drafted Maxey and McCain... But 3 seems high... It's like he was the emergency WTF we gonna do now that Ace has cancelled... I just believe we lost value, because he's not a real #3 pick IMHO... It's a weird draft class to me... Even my boy Kon Knueppel went 4... I lost more respect for Morey not trading down and settling... You can say what you want, WE SETTLED... But hey, lets see how it goes... Summer League is around the corner...

No by draft boards VJ wasn't BPA, but he was right there.  Ace was BPA and VJ was next.  The pick wasn't a reach and VJ has something that makes you believe his shooting will not be bad.  He's pretty good at catch and shoot threes.  He just needs improve shooting on the move and tighten his handle and the kid will be problems for the rest of the league.

Overall, I give them a B-. I give them an A- on VJ although I would’ve preferred them trading down a couple of slots and picking up future draft Or a young athletic link with some length.

Not liking the short center high up in the second round, so that’s a C. I would’ve preferred them to be aggressive and go after the Creighton kid or if they were gonna stay there, take the French center

The French center, Reynaud, has enough skil to play the 4 or the 5, and was more athletic than Broome. Just my 2 cents, Morey botched that pick, but i love VJ. His shooting will improve.  He's already good at spot up jumpers. He just needs to improve his shooting on the move and tighten his handle, and he's gonna be a PROBLEM!!!

Would love another look at Keve Aluma.  I thought the kid could've/ would've helped us after his summer league performance last year, and surprisingly no one signed him. He could be our Yabu of this year!

Sixers Forum / Re: We should consider McCain+3 for Harper
« on: May 13, 2025, 08:31:53 am »
I agree with trading up to take Harper, but not at the expense of McCain.   Move a the 3rd and a future 1st to switch and take Harper.  His pairing with Maxey would be ideal, as he's not just a scorer but a playmaker as well.  His size, at 6'6, would allow for him Maxey and Grimes to share the court in the starting lineup, and have McCain as our sixth man, at least for this season.  A lineup of Harper, Maxey, Grimes, PG, Yabulsele, and hopefully a healthy Embiid, would be a very good starting point for next year.

It's fortunate for you that your pea sized brain can only remember the few things I got wrong.

Tell us again about how EE was so easy that you had to switch to ME 🤡🤡🤡🤡

The main thing I got from summer league is Aluma should be given a 2way and an opportunity to see if he can help the squad at the PF position.   We're thin there and can use the bench help in that spot.  Kid has some dawg in him and his hungry.

10
So we expect him to work on his conditioning and his game during the summer, which would include playing basketball, but don't go play in the Olympics where he'll be able to be in a team setting,  play, work on his game and pick the brains of other players who have already won chips, essentially what we want him to do anyway.  @#$%s crazy.  You just can't make some people happy.

Council ,Aluma, Bona played well. McCain showed he's a better player than you think. Not sure what he is, if his three ball is what they say it is he can play some minutes. Who the hell is Keve Aluma?  He can play a little. But its one game, not gonna Paul Reed it over one game!
Keve Aluma can play.  He graduated from Virginia Tech and was in the conversation for ACC player of the year his senior year.  I don't believe he was drafted, and that was shocking.   Kid's game reminded me of Boris Diaw offensively, outside in big.  He's maybe a better defender and rebounder though than Diaw.

I hope Morey shoots for someone better than DFS.  He's not the player he used to be, and definitely not a starting player these days.

Odds are no other deals will be made until things are cleared up on the Buddy situation.   Prince would've been a good bench pieces, especially on a vet min deal.

So 2 lies so far.  Integrity seems to be a real issue in Tobias's family.

Now show me the the post from weeks ago where you said that Burks would be an amazing get.
Is it possible we would get a trade exception and that could be used to bypass us getting hard capped on a trade,  say like for Harrison Barnes?

Sixers Forum / Re: Wish/Want/Accept at PF?
« on: July 02, 2024, 11:58:29 pm »
No I do not agree that we need a PF... Is J. Tatum really a PF? Or is he a SF playing PF... Is J. Brown a SG playing SF? Of course... With that being said, Paul George is the PF... Kelly Oubre is the SF...

What this team needs more than anything is a 2 GUARD with 3 and D ability... I was hoping that KCP would have been that guy...

Don't get me wrong, there is always going to be times where you have to match up against certain teams... But to think that Paul Reed was going to defend the likes of J. Tatum is asinine...

We could easily match up with Minnesota if we needed... Embiid could play PF with Drummond at C... But, if you think about it...

There are no real dominant PF's in the league anymore... AD don't even play PF anymore... That's why so many SF's are playing PF... Didn't Tobias Harris play PF for years when he's a SF? My final answer is SG...
I have fallen in love with the idea of PG at the 4 and KO at the 3.  My suggestion at the 2 would be Gary Trent, Jr.   He's a very good 3-point shooter, and underrated defender.   I'd really prefer Okoro but I don't think Cleveland would let him go.   They can match any offer.
