General managers and intelligent fans pick up on things that less intelligent people don't pick up on.

He was never going to be traded straight up for a player like Chapman, never.

For better or worse, our short term prospects are dependent on our actual prospects coming through next season.

I'm a big fan of Pen too.  I actually figured he'd be respected enough league wide (despite his nonsensically low online ranking) to fetch us a good player in a trade, but I'm glad we kept him.

We invested a couple of high picks on college pitchers in the last draft, presumably in hopes that both would be big league ready by no later than the end of this season.

I still hate that we traded O'Hoppe AND Tait, but I also stilll believe in Marchan.  Realmuto at this point can't be asked to catch 100+ games, can he?

realmuto, unless injured, will start 125-135 games behind the plate.

Wen-Hui Pen was never enough to trade for aroldis chapman straight up, never.

BREAKING: The New York Mets have acquired All-Star right-hander Freddy Peralta in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, sources tell ESPN. Deal is done. Top prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat are headed to Milwaukee. One more big league pitcher will head to the Mets.

id be shocked if the head coach that won a superbowl here wants to come back to be the offensive coordinator, doug saying "he'd do anything" (if he did) probably wasnt talking about doing this, more then likely it was a joel embiid "i almost died" misinterpretation.

id be shocked if the head coach that had sirianni as his offensive coordinator comes back to be the offensive coordinator under that coach.

Phillies Board / Re: Realmuto signs 3/45

Well, that sucks!

it would probably take a middleton going on steve cohen tllt to get something of real importance done...them signing realmuto right away though, probably but an end to that. if they didnt sign him, i think there would be hope something other them signing him was coming, but given how the bichette stuff started (realmuto not signing, bichette calling them) im not the least bit optimistic anything more then a minor league contract to a platoon type right handed bat is coming.

Next they should resign Bader!   And would be wonderful to sign Bellinger.

Great to see you here Tik Tokket!

not that they couldnt use it, but signing anyone at this point would require them to go over where they reportedly were going to be with adding bichette coupled with letting realmuto walk and trading bohm. their payroll now is roughly where it would have been if they signed bichette and made those corresponding moves. i dont think they add that payroll when that was never their plan to do so, before or during the bichette stuff.

signing bichette
bichette - 29m
carratini - 7m (or similar)
bohm - (-10.2m)

roughly 26 million

where they are today
realmuto - 15m
bohm - 10m

roughly 25 million

In fairness, can't blame DD for meeting Bo B demands and then Bo B takes that Mets offer...

In fairness, can blame DD for not getting that contract done before Mets gave Bob B that contract.  Can also blame DD for 3/45 for JT.

And in fairness, he and his agent knew waiting until Tucker signed would likely be helpful to them, which is why they waited, takes two to sign.

The issue I have with this, it should have been their plan from the beginning. If realmuto signed a month ago, this isn't even being talked about today. This only came about because bichette approached them, possibly even for leverage in getting the deal he did

3 of those bottom 5 teams made the world series within the last 5-6 years, one in 2013. so it's not impossible

He's not saying those specific teams can't, he's saying teams spending that can't. Again, it's the numbers he's referring to , not tht team.

You think any guy on Twitter is a genius

You're adding nothing to a legitimate conversation. The source in this case doesn't matter, the numbers are what is important.
