Yes, exactly my point.

So The 6ers have one, "in his prime" all-star in Maxey. While, Embiiid is overpaid, most likely a former all star, he's past his prime and no longer has the defensive impact which is the most important role of a center (cant rebound, does not intimidate drivers). And VJ ie an unproven rookie who's career path is unknown. Plus the 6ers are saddled with PGs contract.

The Magic have 2 all-star caliber players who by the way are younger than Maxey and therefore theoretically at least have more room for growth. Plus more other intriguing youngsters from Anthony Black, Jalen Suggs, Tristan DiSilva etc. AND role players in their primes... like Bane, Carter Jr.

The Cavs have 3 players too. All on the right side of their prime and with more experience than a rookie.

I'm not trying to crap on the 6ers situation. I don't think it's nearly as bad as Cowboys and a few others try to suggest it is. But I am tryna be objective about it.

Well, Orlando better hope they get better as they get older. They have 11 players signed next year at 214 million. Over the 1st apron already and still need 6 players.

Cavs better hope to that the players they have now with 20 loses get better. They are over the 2nd apron next year already.

Embiid overpaid? He is up there because of how long he has been in the league, But, he is still putting up 24 plus points a game. I’ll take that. I mean Suggs gets 35 million and is scoring 15 points a game. Bane is getting 36 million for 19 a game. There are a lot of players overpaid. But I’m ok with our overpaid player scoring 24 plus points a night.

I completely disagree with your perspective.
The Magic and Cavs have more young/in prime talent than the 6ers do. The Cavs in particular have been snake bit with injuries or they'd be a top 4 team in the East. Knicks are in a funk, but have more championship equity than this current 6ers team. The Bucks aren't in great shakes but when you have Giannis already in the fold you're only 1 trade away. They could buy low on a former all star like Morant and be right back in the thick of an ECF race. The 6ers on the other hand are stuck with one foot in the past and the other foot in the future.

Stuck? Yes maybe stuck with PG for 2 more years. But, I’m pretty sure it’s not a bad thing being stuck with the 2nd leading scorer at the center position.

The Cavs have been snake bitten with injuries? PG missed 18 games, Embiid 19 and Oubre 22? What do we call that?

We have 3 player to build around.. Embiid, Maxey and VJ. That’s the bottom line.

Now, if I could move PG, I would. I don’t think I would move Embiid unless a team blows me a way.

I think we are in a better position than Memphis, Clippers and the Warriors but its hard to see the rationale with the rest of those teams.

Why is that? We have a better record then the Magic and they will be over the 1st apron next year and trade 5 1st round picks Bane. They can’t add players. Knicks are looking to trade players because of how bad they are right now and they are over the 1st apron next year as well. The Buck are paying 22 million a year for the next 4 years for air. What makes the cavs any good. They will be over the 2nd apron 2 years in a row. Now they start getting penalties you don’t want. Again, we are just as good as these teams. But, since we are so worried about the regular season, some people like to look at single games and pick them apart. I’m ok with our 24 plus 8 plus center taking off games here and there.

Your hope stops you from being realistic...

You know damn well the Sixers don't have a chance to win it all... Again, we have had better rosters and failed...

As I stated, I would make that move. For one, it's 1 year less than George... And 2, we could buy him out the same way that Dame Dollars got bought out with the Bucks... This would signal real change... And that we are moving in another direction... You know we don't have a chance, but all this hope, flowers, and balloons is just that... Here we stand 4 games over .500, and you talking WIN IT ALL? BRO...

Change?? The Bucks are paying 22 million a year for a player that’s not even on there roster?? Your ok with that, but not signing a guy Grimes who would actually give you production and actually be on your team..

What the Bucks and Suns did with Dame and Beal was about as stupid as you get.. And you think we are in bad shape.

So, if we have a big problem. How do you think the Knicks, Bucks, Cavs, Lakers, Dallas, Magic, LAC, Minnesota, GS, and Memphis feel?? We are probably in better shape than most of these teams. And this isn’t counting the teams that are just tanking every year. I think we will be just fine.

I know, you just needed something to complain about. Like always.

My biggest fear is Morey trading away future firsts to get rid of one of them. I'd rather ride it out. At that point you'd have a few options.

I don’t think he would add any future picks. I don’t see either getting moved. At least this year.

There is 1 team that makes sense for PG. That team is the Spurs. They can match the money and I believe would be a better team. What about this trade:

Spurs get: PG and Oubre

The Sixers get: Vassell, Barnes, Olynyk , and the Hawks 2027 1st round pick.

I think it makes a ton of sense for both teams. The Spurs would be in position to win it this year with this trade. PG’s and Oubre’s defense is exactly what they need.Vassell is a True SG. Not a SF. They have 3 great guards already. They don’t need Vassell. It also helps them down the road when they have to resign all there players. When PG comes off the books, is right when extension will be handed out. And, as of right now, they wight have a lottery pick this year. I just see it as a gamble that they might try taking. Winning one year would be well worth the trade.

As for the Sixers, we get off PG’s contract and add Vassell to our guard crew. We can then let Grimes walk away and pick up an additional 27 million in cap next year. That’s gives us the opportunity to keep building around Maxey and VJ. Plus, Embiid isn’t going anywhere.

I believe when we get closer to the trade deadline, the Sixers will have to make a decision based on where they are in the standings.

So, if the right deal comes, they might move PG. But there is no way they are moving Embiid. Over his last 10 games, he is averaging 27.5 pts., 7.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1 block. Like it or not, those are great numbers for a center. Just so you know, there is only one center averaging more points per game, that’s Jokic. And he’s on the shelf…

Would be nice to see a trade for a PF or SF. I still think they should try and get Bey from NO.

I agree but what would they expect to get back? McCain is averaging 6 ppg on 35% from the floor and 32% from three. I'm sure he'll attract some interest but if Grimes leaves, they'll have to find someone to replace him.

Not sure what they could get back. Would love to flip him for a a young PF. Even if we sweeten the deal with a 2nd round pick.

As for Grimes, I don’t see any team throwing 20 million a year at him. The new rules are very tight and I don’t see teams making him a big offer. If he gets 10-12 million a year, he better be thankful. Players will have to start realizing how these Aprons will affect them.

I think a bigger problem is our shot selection. How many time did we get a turnover or rebound and run down the court and shot a crazy 3 point shot? I seen Maxey do it 2 times along with PG and Grimes. Off balance with there feet not set.. WHY??? Slow it down and run a play!!!! It’s such a waste of a possession..

I seen 2 different reports that teams have called about Jared McCain. I really think they have to look into this.

Will Phily have money to play in FA market?

If the Sixers pick up Trenton Watford’s option ( I think they will ), they will have 180 tied for 9 players. I would think the goal would be to stay under the 1st Apron. That number is 210 million. So, that is really not that much.

And how did that work with Grimes?

The believers will say he will get signed after the season... I believe he walks freely, leaving us dry...

Thats 2 different positions. Big difference. And Eason would be our starting PF. Grimes will never be our starter. I’m ok paying 20 plus million a year for a starter. Not so much for a 6th man.

I like the idea of pursuing Eason, but you can't structure a long term contract the way you are suggesting. ie doing the same thing the rockets did for Smith Jr.

They are from the same draft, both on 4 year rookie contracts. The time to extend is before they play the 4th year. That's what Houston did with Jabari, but that time has past now for Eason. Now, or really this summer, with Eason you can accept his Qualifying offer of 8 million OR you can give him a long term contract. But you can't do both, ie have him play at his 8 mil QO in 2026-27 while also signing him to a contract that kicks in in 2027-28.

So basically you'd either sign him to a long term deal that starts in 2026-27 season, or you'd do what the 6ers did with Grimes ie allow Eason to play on his QO which would make him an unrestricted free agent in 2027-28.

But, wouldn’t we get his birdy rights? Meaning, he could play out his deal next year for 8 million. We would be the only team that can offer him a 5 year deal correct? A FA can only sign a 4 year deal if it is a max deal.

but you said 2030 and 2032.... doubt Maxey will be carrying a club by 2030 let alone 2032.  VJ who knows where he'd be.  So, no, I would not give up 2030/32 1st round picks... unless heavily protected but then you are back in the playing in purgatory-mode like this year.  Can't tank and don't want to give up whatever future assets that are left.  If anything, pray JE and PG are healthy come playoffs and hope to offload 1 over the summer.

Why play in mode. Maxey will get another 5 year deal and will be 29 years old in 2030. VJ will be 24 years old on his 1st new contract. Eason would sign an extension and still be under contract.( and he will be only 28 ) There is a possibility that our 28 1st round pick ( LAC’s pick ) could be a lottery pick and 2029 we have the right to flip our pick with theirs. That could be 2 really good players on top of have a lot of cap space.

So, all I see is the potential to have a dominant team for years to come.mostly when your 3 stud players are in there prime…

I know you weren’t asking this question to me, but there is no way I would give up any future first round pics especially after 2029.  Both of those pics have a good chance of being high lottery.

That is not true. 1st off, we will have the best back court in the NBA. If we could get Eason, I would offer him the same extension that Smith got from Houston. I would do it the same way to. It would be an extension. So, next year he would still be at 8 million. Then 5 year deal over 100 million would kick in. Now, we will still be under the 1st apron next year. The following year we would probably go over the 1st apron but it’s only for a year. We then will have over 50 plus million coming off the books along with having the Clippers pick in 2028.

We will be building around Maxey, VJ, and Eason as our core. Embiid is here for 4 of those years. Then in 2029, we will have a pick swap with LAC and another 70 million in cap space.

So, I see that being a very bright future with a lot of potential to be great..
