Batting 200 now.  Nice to see. Even if it is against the horrible Rockies. Now if NC could...

7-6  after this BP implosion. What the heck is going on tonight in Philly?

I blame Joel Embiid and the Sixers.

In case you guys missed this in that thread....

"You guys won't like to hear this, but it IS the truth....

Embiid's main goal for coming back this season, was to use these games going forward, so that he can be ready for the Olympics.

It could still lead to a NBA championship this year (doubt it), but the chance at the title this year wasn't his MAIN priority. He and Morey are more focused on next season for the perceived much better chance at a title. Don't be shocked when we bounce in round one... Joel gets his game sharpened up a bit for those Olympics and Paul Reed is now OFF the payroll.

Joel put's the NBA title a close third behind winning 1. MVP 2. Olympics 3. NBA title."

Fantastic box score outing from Sanchez tonight. He was fighting it some but 1 run thru 6 after it was 2nd and 3rd ,2 batters in is awesome.

It was great to see this from our #4 starter. I don't care if it was against a crap team. It builds confidence.  I'm sure RBI would chirp on Rojas if he went 4 for 4 in one of these games against a team like the Rockies.

I was guessing you could see. Maybe not.

My eyes see just fine, Doc. My eyes see females in the way you apparently see other men.

If you're taking strictly lineup, I think hoskins would be better then castellanos. However I think the decision was about trying to keep Harper healthier along with the money it would have taken to sign hoskins. I do believe they tried trading Castellanos but would have had to take on significant salary. Remember they are currently getting taxed at 62 percent so say they eat half of castellanos salary, they'd be paying him 10 and hoskins 17 million so they that's 27 million (or 7 more then they currently are). 7 million at 62 percent is an extra 5 million not only this year but the remain years of his contract. So your.e looking at say 10-12 million more to sign hoskins instead of keeping castellanos.

Then after that 7, they'd be getting hit at 95 percent of every dollar spent.

Remember hoskins is nearly as streaky as castellanos too.. unfortunately right now, castellanos looks totally lost.

To sum up a think a lot more went into the decision then just lineup decision.

Everything would work out great if NC could get it together.  I do trust Hoskins more than NC, but DD made the decision to not bring back Hoskins. I do think what you are saying is exactly the case. DD had to look at his options in a money sense, because Middleton was bickering about the tax stuff.

This is why I say I disagree with RBI saying DD is inept, amongst other reasons, but I do wish DD could have done more to better this team.

I do believe they CAN be good enough to win a WS, but it would have been an easier path to winning said WS if we had kept Hoskins over deciding to keep Harper at 1b. Especially if NC is going to be this bad. I mean I think you get how weak it makes the outfield with Harper now playing first instead of Hoskins. How it also weakens the RH hitters on the team. I mean you can even think of Hoskins RH bat in the lineup instead of Rojas if we had kept Hoskins, because NC would be in left along with Marsh in CF with the possibility of Rojas still being a defensive option on the bench.

It would solve a lot of issues if NC would get it together. To me, despite what RBI thinks... I am most disappointed in NC compared to Rojas. NC is ruining the team and the team's decision to go with Harper at first instead of the outfield at the cost of Hoskins. I would not bat NC any higher than 8 until he shows better. Swinging at junk like you posted is AWFUL.

here's why castellanos should never be thrown a strike....lol

Brandon Marsh should not have to bat in front of NC while he is a being an absolute ZERO at the plate. To be honest, I wish we would have kept Rhys and made Harper go back to RF. NC should have to bat 8th if he's going to be in our lineup. Rojas should have been used in a package trade to get a good pitcher.

I mean it is certainly possible that NC eventually figures it out, but when you see him swinging at what you posted.... It doesn't seem likely. Now we have 2 ZEROS as far as hitting goes in our outfield. Not to mention, Marsh is not the ideal power bat you'd want as a corner OF. Perhaps Marsh can become more of a power type hitter out there, but it is not extremely likely, and he shouldn't have to be that guy.

With all that being said, our outfield is extremely weak in the hitting department outside of Marsh. Unfortunately for Marsh, his bat does equal more of a CF. So again, I guess we should have really kept Hoskins and made Harper play RF.

I don't agree with RBI that DD is inept, but I do agree that DD should have done more to better balance this team.

Rojas should not be relied on to hit much either in this lineup as long as he plays GG type CF. This would be OK, if NC could freaking stop being an epic failure, and to be honest..... Marsh could have and probably should have been the CF, while NC was his typical ZERO in LF instead of RF. We don't have that option, because we didn't keep Hoskins.

Now, I do understand that Rojas saves a lot of runs scored against, but it doesn't seem worth it when the entire OF is so weak at hitting. Too weak for what an OF should field in my opinion.

The better OF would have been NC in left, Harper in RF, centered by Marsh. Yes, Marsh is not the same OF as Rojas, but he isn't awful out there. I'd still prefer to keep Rojas and get rid of NC if possible. NC is the biggest issue on this team. It makes having someone like Rojas in the lineup look worse than it should. The issue before all of this, was not bringing Hoskins back and having Harper go back to RF.

This team really has no balance and so it is a bit difficult to put the blame on RT. I don't like all of RT's moves and he DOES make a lot of mistakes in my eyes, but I think DD needs to make some bold moves to better this team going forward. One would be to see if we can find ANY possible trade for NC...find a player struggling on another team similar to NC and making the same money and see if change of scenery helps both teams/players.

Was curious, so looked it up.  Best 18-game start since 2019.

10-8 in 2024
7-11 in 2023
8-10 in 2022
9-9 in 2021
9-9 in 2020
11-7 in 2019

Which shows that this year's start is a better and faster start than last season. So, RT and the team has done what he wanted them to do.....

Thanks.

RT said that he wanted to get off to a fast start and he has in terms of making stupid managerial moves. Anyone that thinks that KS still should be leading off is out of touch with reality!

In case you missed it the first time, and especially after this game.......

It will be the BEST and fastest start the Phillies have gotten off to this decade.

I'm sure RT wanted better, but it is still a faster and better start than previous seasons.

He successfully played center and left tackle while in college, and while the ACC isn't quite the SEC or Big10, it ain't chump change either.

His measurables, outside of arm length, are through the roof.  And even his arm length (33 inches) is far from bad, just not ideal for a tackle.

By taking him in the 1st round, we have him for cheap for 4 seasons as a much needed supersub who can theoretically fill in at ANY position, and if he does end up starting we have him locked in for that 5th option year.

And I want to emphasize again that this dude measured out insanely well at his pro-day, equaling or besting Lane Johnson in most of the key athleticism drills.

Don't be shocked if he's taken before 22, but if he does fall to us, he's too perfect an option for us to pass on.

He will most likely be taken at 20 by the Steelers. They are now trying to copy the Eagles oline methods.

I would actually LOVE for Howie to draft this dude. I wouldn't mind trading up for him either. I agree with you on this dude.

So, gotta beat the Caps first, and then wait to see if Pit loses to the Islanders and Detroit loses to Montreal....

Do NOT like the Flyers chances at the playoffs and they only have themselves to blame.

Matvei can't get here soon enough...
