Sixers Forum / Re: Bench

They make this trade 100 times and in most instances it works out fine. They follow it up by trading the 2nds for a useful frontcourt bench player plus pocketed a pick. In most instances, Maxey, VJ and Grimes are generally healthy and we don't have enough playing time to showcase McCain, anyway. Or heck, maybe in a few scenarios Morey gets our pick back instead of valuing the 2nds.

Unfortunately, the way it played out, Morey couldn't flip the 2nds and VJ Grimes and Maxey each missed games. Which for sure sucks but was highly unlikely, so I can't get on the FO for the process. Trading McCain made generally sense.

The only thing that bothers me is it felt like a bit of a half measure. If you are trying to duck the tax, that suggests you dont believe in the team... so go get your pick back. Choosing to receive a worse 1st rounder so you can have a couple seconds with the intention of flipping them, suggests you do believe in the team... So like, which is it actually? It's that inconsistency that I find frustrating.

Kind of like how they refused to trade Yabusele at last years deadline but then also clearly had no interest in re-signing Yabusele.

Last night it was Grimes who basically closed out that game.  I was screaming this morning watching the replay for VJ to get involved.  He was deferring to Cam Payne at one point...lol.

With 6mins left and the scored tied at 108......Grimes scores, Watford makes 2 FTs, Grimes scores, Grimes makes 2 FTs, VJ scores on runout dunk, Bona scores, Grimes scores, Watford makes 2 FTs, VJ scores.  I love VJ, but thats a step he's definitely not ready for.  I will say, however, he definintey has a tendency to make clutch shots.

Grimes is never lacking for confidence, but in terms of clutch time efficiency, VJ might literally be the best in the NBA.

What's crazy is that we lost a game cause of VJ missing 2 straight free throws in the last seconds of a game.  We lost another game when Maxey did the same.

This team could/should be 41-30 right now.

Phillies Board / Re: The intelligent ideas thread

@MattGelb
As Phillies work to finalize roster, one possibility is carrying four lefties in bullpen to begin season. Kyle Backhus and Tim Mayza could join Alvarado and Banks.

They reassigned righty Lou Trivino, who will go to Triple A.

With our rotation down to 2 lefties, carrying 4 in the pen would be an "intelligent idea".

But do we have the talent to carry 4?

I spent 4.5 seasons defending Tobias.

Thats news to me....and could be true, but from what I read over those years hasn't been defense.  Especially his last 2yrs in PHI

VJ is really making a case to be our closer.

What amazes me about this team is how hard it is to get an odd man break against us.

Vlad is not a star, but like most average goalies will thrive when being free of odd man breaks.

Phillies Board / Sanchez extended for 6 seasons

He's be 30 at the end of this year, but injury free and mechanically clean.

@MattGelb
Phillies have ripped up Cristopher Sánchez’s contract and agreed to a new six-year deal from 2027 to 2032 with a club option for 2033. More to come

The new contract guarantees Cristopher Sánchez $107 million through 2032, including his $3.5 million salary in 2026, according to a league source.

IMO and probably I’m in the minority but Stoudt is a bit overrated the past 3-5 years. Besides JM who has he turned from a pumpkin into a stagecoach?

We'll know in 2-3 years how important Stout really was.  Truthfully every star he produced was a physical freak.  Kelce included.

Paying 10 million for a "super sub" Olineman would make some sense, but not for one who only excels at tackle.

This is why I hated letting Toth walk.  On top of having a PhD from Stoutland U, he can technically play all 5 positions.
Toth was an underrated super sub and probably a better C than Cam last year. I understand not wanting to pay 10M for a sub T but he’s better than Fred and I doubt LJ will play more than 10-12 games. IMO and probably I’m in the minority but Stoudt is a bit overrated the past 3-5 years. Besides JM who has he turned from a pumpkin into a stagecoach?

the stat that went viral wasnt even real

it was something like 485 to 465 and and everyone just ran with it because they are aholes who hate our boy.  Support our players instead of tearing them down

It was corrected.  In fact, I posted an entire video about the correction.  I can't even fathom someone HATING him over a game of basketball.  If thats the case, then they should seek help.  He doesn' affect anyones life personally, nor does anyone know him personally.  Hate is too strong a word IMO.  I think most are frustrated w his injury history.  IF you wanna say someone is hated though, best believe it's DM....  j/k
