The intelligent ideas thread
« on: February 14, 2026, 05:27:19 pm »
We all know Rob is stupid and stubborn, so the odds of him doing anything creative and intelligent is close to zero.

But even broken clocks get it right, so who knows

Here are my intelligent ideas for this season:

1.  6 man rotation when Wheeler is ready.  Our bullpen depth is once again a concern, and we'll be 6 deep once Wheeler comes back, assuming Nola pulls his head out his rear.

2.  Play Schwarber in LF for ~50 games, so that JT can DH for ~60 games.  We Crawford, Marsh and Garcia cover a lot of ground, as long as it's not a jumbo sized park, Kyle should be fine in the outfield.

3.  Bat Bohm 3rd, behind Trea and Bryce.  Bryce and Kyle are theoretically good against LHP, until they come up against a good left-handed junkballer.  We can't afford to go back to back lefty, not if we want to avoid those crippling dry spells offensively.

4.  Play Stott at short.  He's a superior fielder to Trea, it's not even close.

More intelligent ideas are welcome.

I thought you said the smart managers would bat turner in the bottom of the lineup?

Realmuto's bat isn't worthy of dh'ing 60 times a year.

Stott would be a better defender at short, turner wouldn't want to move to 2nd, plus Sosa may still platoon with stott.

If everyone is healthy a 6 man rotation would be nice to see for most of the starters, it may be rare all 6 are all healthy at the same time.

Schwarber hogging the DH must be annoying

Perhaps Realmuto wouldn’t be washed

Others could use a half break as well from time to time

The guy who threw a hissy fit over not being able to play in the outfield was evidently the one who was "toxic" to our culture.

Same deal with the guy who threw a hissy fit over us not doing enough fielding drills.

Kyle the full time DH in turn was rewarded with a 5 year deal.

Coziest job in world and he was pointing fingers at Nick

I’d tell that Mary to bring his glove to spring training and get ready to work

it's one thing to have a "hissy" fit over fielding practice, and quite another to be inside playing video games while the other pitchers were doing
fielding practice. schwarber hit 56 hr and had 132 rbi's. you find that objectionable? he never complained about playing lf, he just was not good at it.

It only took a few years for RT to figure out that moving KS out of leadoff was beneficial

Neither one of Kyle or Bryce really steps up when everyone else is struggling.

What I liked about Nick is that he had that ability to break the ice and get us going when everyone was cold.  Nick was streaky, but in his own way, how the rest of the team was doing seemingly had no impact on him.

Nick went from all world against the Braves to all nothing against the Dbags. He has been mediocre the past 2 years but still serviceable if on a decent contract. DD has turned into one of the least creative GMs in baseball since he’s been here.  Either overpaying for FA’s or overplaying for mediocre OFs, Bader included.

Turner, Harper, JT, Nola, Wheeler and now KS contracts are not going to age well. Whoever the next GM is going to be in 2 years will be inheriting an overblown payroll littered with old broken former stars. What a cluster.

At least that team had a title to show for it.

People were begging for RT to just switch up lineup, but like Sinatra he did it his way.

I still remember the endless hate mail I got on the old forum for saying that Rube wasn't qualified to run a taco stand.

I wonder if Candyland is still around.

You said a few months ago the candyland people were still hanging out. Nive of you to acknowledge that was a complete lie which I said it was at the time.

and again has zero to do with the point. the point was you guys were whining that ks got a contract while castellanos got canned for having a  hissy fit.
schwarber has had good years consistently. he cannot play the field. you can't have 2 dh's. castellanos was the worst defensive of in baseball last year.
and a pain in the ass to boot.
