Flyers are 5 points out of a playoff spot with 17 games remaining.

3 games against Detroit
2 games against Columbus
1 game against the Islanders
1 game against the Bruins

And 3 against non playoff teams.

Will the real Flyers fans continue to root your team on till the end. Very much alive.

After that disgraceful loss at home to the Rangers, I thought the bottom would fall out.  Instead, the team responded with wins in B2B games including the one at Minnesota after arriving around 2am the day of the game.  It's kept them alive in the race.  However, looking at their playoff probability, it's only about a 4% to 8% chance.

Ten of the Flyers remaining 17 games are against current playoff teams.  Another five opponents have winning records and will be competing for a playoff spot as well.  That's a tough schedule crammed into the next 31 days.

The Flyers 20 regulation wins (1st tiebreaker) are less than the teams they're chasing and the teams they're competing against for that playoff spot.  On top of that, they not only have to surpass Boston or Detroit for a Wild Card, or even the Islanders for 3rd in the Metro, they also have to surpass Columbus, Ottawa, Washington & Florida.

But at least they still have meaningful games to play.  None more meaningful than tonight vs Columbus at XMA.

"REAL" Flyers fans want to win a Stanley Cup.  Real Flyers fans are tired of seeing them being nothing more than mediocre because management & ownership is more concerned with packing the stadium rather then sacrificing to win a championship!  But some of you who say you're fans are clueless!

Real fans are apparently not business majors or stockholders.  ;)

would owners make more money if they put out a consistent winning product instead of a consistent losing one? especially a gate driven league like the NHL.

Absolutely.  But that would require long term thinking.  The Flyers current state was created by mistakes made years ago and one player that screwed them.  I don't believe Jones and Briere are idiots but they also need to answer to the Comcast shareholders, meaning they can't just tank every season until they get the golden draft pick.

They may not be idiots though they are def not good at their job. What player screwed them? Please do not say cutter. Flyers screwed themselves. Looks like a real smart move on his end no.

The best way to sustained success is to put yourself in a position to draft high in the draft for a few years. If you have a young exciting team, despite the results, peeps will still go. See the #88 ere when he arrived. This would require a real plan, of which the 2 amateurs are incapable of putting together.

My own opinion is Comcast lets the people they hire (whole diff issue) make the hockey decisions. The 2 dopes choose the path they are on. Had they torn it down what is the worse that could have happened? Still a bad team with no path to contention.

They have lost generations of fans because of their incompetence.

Spot on 100% I have always said that the fans in Philadelphia would be able to put up with a rebuild that was torn down to the studs if it resulted in one or two generational players. If you're going to suck why not suck and be entertaining at the same time.

This dump and chase crap / 20 shots per game acts as a better sleep aid than Ambien.

The first few seasons of the Lindros era were not great but at least you could see what was ahead. Then Clarke made the shrewd trade for Desjarsdin and Leclair and boom instant contenders.

We probably do less dump and chase than anyone in the league.

Where we struggle is on the far ends of both sides of the ice.  Teams are still able to bully us near or behind the net, even after we traded Brink.  I love Andrae's fire, but have enough small defensemen as it is.

But have no fear, we got some big boys in our pipeline.

those big boys gonna keep the path to cup contention alive once they acquire 2 more dvoraks and a better back up. then this team is one of the cup favorites.
